Second Grade CogAT Spring Administration

This spring, WCPSS will universally screen all second-grade students using the Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT). The CogAT is used to determine if your child requires differentiated services beyond what is provided in the traditional classroom. The CogAT is one of many tools used to determine if students can benefit from differentiation provided when identified as Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted. The CogAT measures general thinking and problem-solving skills. It shows how well students use these skills to solve verbal, math-related, and visual puzzles. These skills develop at different rates for everyone and are important for school success. The test results help teachers plan lessons that support each student’s learning. The CogAT is just one of many tools used to plan teaching strategies.

Bryan Road Elementary Second Grade students will participate in CogAT testing on March 10th, 11th, and 12th. Please contact Jessie Hollinger, AIG Teacher, for more information. (jhollinger@wcpss.net)
