Winter Break Lost and Found

We have a collection of misplaced jackets, coats, sweatshirts, and water bottles located outside our main office. Please come to school from December 16-20 from 9:30am-4:30pm to look for your child’s missing items. Unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.

The Family Academy School

The WCPSS Office of Equity Affairs is excited to announce that The Family Academy is partnering with the Southeast YMCA to launch "The Family Academy School," an initiative that provides essential educational resources for both parents/caregivers and children. Parents/caregivers will have the opportunity to attend workshops designed to equip them with tools for supporting their children’s academic success.

While parents participate in these valuable workshops, their children (K-5th grade) will receive focused tutoring in literacy. This program allows families to grow and learn together. Parents need to complete the form as soon as possible since space is limited. https://forms.gle/5Cf8CP8c8CJJwD8P9

Program Details:

When: Saturdays, Starting January 4, 2025 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Location: Southeast Raleigh YMCA, 1436 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh, NC 27610

Focus: Literacy Tutoring for K-5th grade students

Requirement: Parents or caregivers must attend educational workshops while their children are being tutored.

Registration: Space is limited. Participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be notified if your child has been offered a spot for tutoring.

PTA Sunshine Committee Hosts Staff Holiday Luncheon

On Thursday, December 19th, the Sunshine Committee will be hosting a luncheon for all Bryan Road teachers, staff, and administrators (about 100 people). We want to make sure everyone knows how thankful we are for them and how much we appreciate all they do for our students.

  • In order to make this possible, we need your help!
    • Please review the available slots and sign up (https://bit.ly/3ZDLu67).
    • All items should be labeled with LUNCHEON and can be dropped off at the main office.
    • Wednesday, December 18 from 8:45am-4:00pm and Thursday, December 19 before 10:30am

Recess Coverage: Board approved volunteers are needed from 10:45am-1:30pm on December 19th to allow teachers a full hour lunch break. Please consider signing up for one or more time slots - https://bit.ly/BRESRecess. We still have several openings with a special need for Fifth Grade and ECS.

We Care for WNC

We are honored to partner with Fernleaf Community School in Fletcher, NC through a statewide adopt-a-school program. Fernleaf’s K-4 campus received catastrophic destruction during Hurricane Helene with school staff starting over with classroom and campus resources.

Mandy Sallee, the Lower School Director, shared this message on behalf of the school:

Thank you so much for reaching out and offering your support. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity, and it's heartwarming to know that you and your school are thinking of our community during this challenging time. Our K-4 campus suffered a total loss of our buildings, including all supplies, technology, furniture, and curriculum materials. As we begin the long process of rebuilding, any contribution would go a long way in helping us restore a sense of normalcy and continue providing a quality education for our students.

Here are the easiest ways for our school to receive donations:

We would gladly accept gift cards or supply donations mailed to the following address:

Fletcher, NC 28732

Thank you again for your kindness and support. It means so much to our school community, and we look forward to working together as we rebuild.

We will continue to seek opportunities during this school year to partner with Fernleaf to support its students, staff members, and families.
