Principal's Message - Week of September 16

Dear Bryan Road Elementary Families:

Teacher Workday

Friday, September 20 is a teacher workday. There will be no school for students.

Lunch with Your Student

Beginning on Monday, September 16, parents/caregivers are welcome to join their students during their lunch block. The parent/caregiver will need to check in through the front office and wait there to meet the student. Lunch will take place at the picnic tables outside the cafeteria. At the end of the lunch period, the parent/caregiver should escort the student back to the front office. Sending a Talking Points message to the teacher would help in making sure the child knows to go to the front office when his/her class goes to lunch.

Boosterthon

We're excited to introduce this year's main fundraiser, the Bryan Road Elementary Fun Run. Our goal this year is to raise $30,000 for a new innovative outdoor classroom space to benefit ALL students at Bryan Road Elementary.

We’re excited for this fundraising experience because it offers 3 important things to our school community:

     1️⃣ User-friendly fundraising platform

     2️⃣ Character enrichment program

3️⃣ Fitness-focused event that includes ALL of our students

As a family, you will work together asking friends and family to donate on your student’s Donation Page at MyBooster.com. The best part is, you can still support our school just by SHARING about the fundraiser!

Students will also experience an amazing character enrichment program called “Castle Quest”, teaching students about how to be brave and live with character.

Mark your calendar for Wednesday, October 2. Teachers will share the same session twice at 5:00 and 6:00. Childcare will be available.

Bunco Tournament

The Garner Educational Foundation is pleased to host this year’s Bunco Tournament on October 4 from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm at the Garner Civitan Club. A light supper will be provided along with tournament and door prizes. Come have a night of fun with proceeds benefiting Garner area schools.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brother Big Sisters of the Triangle is a community organization in which you or your student could be involved. This initiative pairs caring adults (Bigs) with young people (Littles) for one-on-one outings and activities that foster growth and connection.

Here’s how it works:

  • Engaging Activities: Bigs and Littles enjoy activities such as walking in the park, visiting museums, listening to music, and simply hanging out and talking.

  • Flexible Scheduling: Whether it’s weekends or evenings, each match creates a schedule that works best for them.

  • Personal Growth: These interactions help Littles improve academically, build stronger relationships, and avoid negative behaviors.

Research shows that children with positive role models are more likely to succeed in school and in life. In fact, a nationwide study confirmed that participants in Big Brothers Big Sisters programs experience significant benefits.

If you know of any parents or students who might benefit from this program, please direct them to the sign-up link here: Youth Enrollment Application . For more information about the program, they can visit our website at BBBS of the Triangle.

Hispanic Heritage Month

WCPSS celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15-October 15. Hispanic Heritage Month is a month-long celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture. While we celebrate Hispanic and Latino communities beyond this month, from September 15 to October 15 we give extra recognition to the many contributions made to the history and culture of the United States, including important advocacy work, vibrant art, popular and traditional foods, and much more. Learn more at the National Museum of the American Latino.
