Principal's Message - Week of April 8

Dear Bryan Road Elementary Families:

Solar Eclipse

Bryan Road Elementary School is excited to participate in the April 8th solar eclipse. Garner will experience a .8-.9 magnitude effect of the eclipse with the event beginning at approximately 2:00 pm and having its maximum impact at approximately 3:15 pm. All students, staff, and board approved volunteers will be provided safety eyewear from American Paper Optics, one of the providers recommended by WCPSS. Students who need to remain inside during the event will have access to a livestream feed. All students outside will be monitored by adults to ensure they wear their protective glasses when viewing the eclipse. Parents are encouraged to review NASA safety guidelines with their students emphasizing the importance of not looking directly at the sun during the eclipse without the safety eyewear. All early check outs will need to take place by 2:45 pm on Monday. Dismissal will follow the normal schedule.

Rising Kindergarten Tours

Families of our 2024-2025 Kindergarten students are invited to register for a school tour on April 10 (12:00 pm), April 18 (5:00 pm), or April 23 (5:00 pm). Staff will introduce you to the BRES campus as well as provide helpful resources to prepare your child for the first day of Kindergarten.

Teacher Workday

April 10 and April 29 are teacher workdays. There will be no school for students.

Family Engagement Survey

Hi Buccaneer Families!  WCPSS is asking that all families take this quick 7-minute survey.  The goal of this survey is to strengthen school/family partnerships and to support strong academic and social outcomes for students. This survey can be taken from any smart device (computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone.)  The survey will run from April 8th-May 17th!  Thank you so much for your participation!

Volunteers Needed

PTA and our school team are truly appreciative of each volunteer who has signed up for this year’s Spring Carnival. Your gift of time will ensure a fun and safe experience for everyone. The event still has 29 hour-long time slots available for a variety of activities between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Each volunteer will receive one free wristband for admission to the carnival. Each time slot will need to be filled in order for all activities to be offered. For this event, it is not necessary to be a board approved volunteer. Sign-up here!
