National School Counselors Week
This week marks National School Counselors Appreciation Week and Parkside is fortunate to have an outstanding team of counselors working with our students, families and staff. Please take a moment to send Ms. Shaw and Mrs. Shaw a note or email of thanks for the work they do to support your student and our school.
Love The Bus Week Starts Next Week!
Next week, we are excited to celebrate Love the Bus Week and show appreciation for our incredible bus drivers! Our drivers play such an important role in our students’ daily lives—ensuring they arrive safely to and from school each day with a warm smile and a caring heart.
We encourage students and families to take a moment to say thank you to their bus driver with a kind word, a note, or a small token of appreciation. For a list of ways to show your appreciation you can click here. Just remember, a little gratitude goes a long way in making our drivers feel valued!
Thank you for helping us recognize these dedicated members of our Parkside family. Let’s make this a special week for them!

Lunch Safety Reminder - No Glass Containers
For the safety of all our students, we kindly ask that you do not pack any food or drink items in glass containers for your child’s lunch. Glass can easily break, creating a hazard in the cafeteria and classrooms.
Please consider using plastic, stainless steel, or other shatter-proof containers instead. Your help in keeping our school environment safe is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
After School Soccer Academy - Coming Soon
We will be partnering with the Carolina Soccer Factory this spring to offer our students CSF School Academy. For more information, and to register, click here.

2nd Grade CogAT Testing
This year, the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) has made a change to administer the AIG screenings at the end of 2nd grade, instead of the beginning of 3rd grade.
To support your child's preparation for these assessments, Ms. Gilmer will be meeting with all 2nd-grade students to discuss mindset and the format or question types. Additionally, a parent letter with detailed information about both the CogAT and Iowa assessments will be sent home soon. If you have any questions or concerns after reviewing the letter, please don't hesitate to reach out to Ms. Gilmer at rgilmer@wcpss.net.
While students will be identified as AIG candidates this year, they will not begin receiving official services until the start of next school year. We also want to emphasize that this identification process is not a judgment on your child's abilities or potential.
Below are the scheduled test dates for 2nd-grade students at Parkside. Please note that teachers will be notified in a timely manner if there are any changes to these dates.
Tr. 1
February 10th, 11th, and 12th
