Mr. Hudson's Principal Message on Monday, November 18

Good morning, and Happy Monday!

Upcoming Events:

  • November 20 - Boosterthon Fun Run Day for Tracks 1 and 3
  • November 27-29 - Thanksgiving Holiday - No School

Boosterthon Wraps Up This Week!

Thank you to all our track 2 and 4 families who have supported our Boosterthon fundraiser. So far, we have raised a little over $13,000 towards our $20,000 goal.

Booster Fun Run for tracks 1 and 3 is this Wednesday! As a reminder, all funds raised go to support our cultural arts programs and PTA events. All students will participate, and everyone can help out by sharing or giving. Let's come together to make this Fun Run a huge success!

If we meet our fundraising goal, Mr. Hudson and Mr. Helfrich will spend the night at Parkside. Visit mybooster.com to register your student today. Thank you for supporting our Sandpipers!

A Special Shoutout to Our Parkside Chorus

A special shout out to the students from our Parkside Chorus who volunteered to perform at the Western NC Benefit Concert last week at Raleigh’s Meymandi Concert Hall! What an incredible opportunity for our students to use their talents to give back and support music programs in Western NC affected by the recent hurricane. Our Parkside students shone brightly and made us proud!

Join Us in Celebrating Our Teacher and Instructional Assistant of the Year

Congratulations to Ms. Daley for being named our Teacher of the Year for 2024-2025!  Congratulations to Ms. Chanda for being named our Instructional Assistant of the Year for 2024-2025!  We are so proud of them both and appreciate all the ways they lead and impact students and staff at Parkside!

Make Up School Work for Unexcused Absences

We understand that sometimes absences may be unavoidable. However, please note that teachers are not required to provide schoolwork for unexcused absences, including those that are for extended periods of time. While we encourage students to stay caught up with their learning, our teachers focus on in-class instruction and cannot guarantee make-up work for unexcused time away from school.

Absentee Notes

When your child is absent, please be sure that you are sending in notes or emails to the teacher so that they can code reasons for absences correctly in PowerSchools.  If there is ever a discrepancy please reach out to us so we can help you!   Also, please know we are required to send home official letters once students have six or ten unexcused absences.

Kindergarten Registration for the 25-26 School Year is Now Open

Register your rising kindergartener here: https://www.wcpss.net/Page/33753   Please be sure to choose the correct year.

After you complete the online enrollment, you will hear from our Data Manager, Kelly Cox Jones, with the next steps.

Keeping Students Safe on the Internet

Thank you so much to all of you as parents who are closely monitoring your children’s use of devices on the internet and social media. The negative impact that unsupervised use has on young children is a growing concern.  Be sure to check out the WCPSS Resource Page. If you scroll down under the main photo, you will see a computer labeled Digital Resources. There is a variety of context that may be helpful for you on digital safety and resources for parents. On this page, you'll find documentation on how parents can set up filtering on school devices (Digital Resources > Online Safety at School > Parental Control Solutions).
