EOY Attendance
As we approach the end of the school year attendance is very important that students are present at school. Teachers will continue to have testing, assessments, and other activities so that students are reaching their grade level benchmark and achieving academic standards. Per WCPSS policy, students must be present for the last 10 days of school or they may be subject to withdrawal from the county. If this occurs parents will have to re-register the student for the 24-25 school year. Placement at Parkside is not guaranteed due to our enrollment cap, students may be placed at Carpenter Elementary and added to the Parkside waitlist. Just a reminder the last day of school is June 26, 2024. Attendance is required even if students have completed the EOG Testing.
Any question please contact Parkside Principal, Mr. Hudson, or Social Worker, Ms. Russ
Teacher Assignments for 2024-2025: Your child’s teacher for the 2024-2025 school year will send you an email on Friday morning, June 28th.
Parent Resources for the Summer
Linked here you will find cross-curricular parent resources to help students stay engaged during the summer.
Volunteer Renewal
Families who were approved to volunteer in the 2023-24 school year will receive an email on June 1 outlining the simple volunteer renewal process for the 2024-25 school year. Encourage families to renew their volunteer status during the renewal window, July 1-Oct. 1.
Carpool and Walker Tag Information for 2024-25 School Year
If you are a new or returning family for the 2024-2025 school year here are the links to request carpool and/or walker tags. Remember only families in the WCPSS designated walkzone are eligible to receive walker tags. New tags will be provided to students at the beginning of the new school year. Here are the links: Carpool Tags and Walker Tags
Families who are eligible for the bus will get an email with directions of how to check your bus assignment (stop and time information) in Powerschools. This email will also include information of how to register for the bus or decline bus transportation. Sometimes these automated messages go into people’s spam / junk folders so it is recommended that you check those folders periodically. Bus routes change from year to year. Do not assume that a bus that went in your neighborhood for the 2023-2024 school year will be the same for 2024-2025.
EOG’s and How to Support Your Child - Update
EOGs for our track 2, 3, and 4 students are starting next week! We're eager to see our students shine and showcase all they've learned this year. To support your child at home, check out this link for valuable tips and tricks on test preparation.
EOG’s and Visiting for Lunch
We will not be hosting parents to come to eat with their students on EOG testing days due to time constraints and changes in schedules. The EOG dates are listed above.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
Bringing Lunch for Your Child(ren)
Some parents choose to bring lunch to school for their children. If you plan to do so, please ensure you know your child’s lunch time. To avoid any disruption and ensure your child receives their meal on time, please drop off the lunch in the main office at least 15 minutes before their lunch period begins. This allows us to deliver the lunch promptly and ensures your child has enough time to eat.
Independent Walkers at Dismissal Time
We want to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students, especially those who walk home independently.
It has come to our attention that many students who are approved as independent walkers are choosing to stay and hang out at the 3-5 playground after dismissal. Please note that this area is not monitored by a Parkside staff member during this time, which poses a safety concern. If your child is an independent walker, we kindly ask for your support in reminding your children of the importance of walking straight home once they are dismissed from school.
By ensuring that your children head directly home, we can help maintain a safe environment for everyone. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
On Campus Before School Care will not be Offered at Parkside for the 2024-25 School Year
We want to thank everyone who completed the YMCA Before and After School Care survey. Based on the responses that we received, and reflecting on current enrollment numbers, it will not be financially possible for the YMCA to continue to offer a before school program for the 2024-25 school year due to low enrollment. They will continue to run the program for the remainder of the current school year. Currently enrolled before school care families will receive individual contact from the YMCA making you aware of the changes taking place. If you have any questions about this, please reach out to Amanda Grover (Amanda.Grover@YMCATriangle.org) or Mel Lanier (Melonie.Lanier@YMCATriangle.org).
