Good morning Parkside Families! Our Track 2 students will track out Tuesday and our Track 3 students will be returning on Wednesday!
Early Release
Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 9th, is an Early Release Day. Dismissal will be at 1:45 PM. Be sure to let your child’s teacher know how your child will be going home.
PTA Final General Meeting of the School Year
The PTA's final General Membership Meeting of the school year will be tonight, Monday, May 8th at 6pm in the gym. The chorus concert will immediately follow. We will be voting in the new Executive Board and voting on the budget for the 2023-2024 school year.
May Spirit Night
May Spirit Night is at Andia's on Monday, May 15th. Check out the event flyer here. Parents can pre-buy a scoop of ice cream for teachers. All pre purchased scoops will be delivered to teachers when Andia's comes to campus to serve the scoops to our staff.
Shout Outs
Thank you to all of the parent volunteers on both of our Field Days! We could not do it without all of your support! Friday was also an amazing day to celebrate our 5th graders at their school dance!
BAC Meeting at Sycamore Creek - Internet Safety
The next District 7 Board Advisory Council meeting today, Monday, May 8, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at Sycamore Creek. A. Mercedes Restucha-Klem, Assistant Attorney General, NC Department of Justice will share an informative presentation on Internet Student Safety for Parents. Please RSVP at bit.ly/District7BACMay8.
Teacher Appreciation Week
This week is STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK at Parkside Elementary wraps up for Tracks 2 & 4 and we begin celebrating all of our track 1 and 3 staff members. Staff appreciation week will take place May 3rd - 8th for T2 & T4 and May 11th - 18th from T1 & T3.
See the attached flyer for how you can participate each day (and for Track Specific Dates). Let's show our fantastic Parkside Staff how much we appreciate what they do for our kids! In addition to showing support to your child's classroom teacher please share the love with the "adopted" staff member assigned to your child's class.

EOY Attendance Reminder - Please Read Carefully
As we approach the end of the school year, it is very important that students are present at school. Teachers will continue to have testing, assessments, and other activities so that students are reaching their grade level benchmark and achieving academic standards. Per WCPSS policy, students must be present for the last 10 days of school or they may be subject to withdrawal by the county. If this occurs, parents will have to re-register their student for the 2023-24 school year. Placement at Parkside is not guaranteed due to our enrollment cap; therefore, students may be placed at Adams Elementary and added to the Parkside waitlist. As a reminder, the last day of school is June 28, 2023. Attendance is required even if students have completed their EOG Testing.

Family Fun Night is Rescheduled to Friday, May 12th from 5:30 to 8:00
Family Fun Night hosted by the Parkside PTA was rescheduled to Friday, May 12th. We can’t wait to see you at Parkside from 5:30-8:00 PM. There will be games, inflatables, food trucks, fairy hair and so much more. Check out the Family Fun Night Flier for more information, and please plan on walking to the event if possible as parking will be limited!
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is bursting at the seams. We will have tables set up at Family Fun Night with all items. Unclaimed items will be donated after the event.
Volunteer Registration Reminder
Just a reminder that Volunteer Registration is now permitted off site instead of being required to sign up at a WCPSS school to become a volunteer. Please visit www.wcpss.net, click on community, volunteer, new volunteer register here.
