    Greetings Powell Families,

     

    Wow! It is hard to believe that the 2021-2022 school year is coming to an end. We appreciate your partnership this year and the support that you have provided to your children. This week is a busy week at Powell. I hope to see you at one of the events happening, as we close out our school year. If I don’t see you this week, I hope that you have a safe and enjoyable summer.

     

    Final myON Update: June 5th myON Challenge Update

     

    Read to Achieve Test for Required 3rd Grade students- 6/06/22

     

    Talent Show: Join us on Tuesday, 06/07/22 at 6:00 PM for our school Talent Show. 

     

    Ice Cream Social & Yearbook Signing Party: Stick around after the Talent Show on 06/07/22 for our annual Yearbook Signing Party and Ice Cream Social beginning at 7:00 PM. 

     

    Play & Ingenuity Field Day: Play and Ingenuity Field Day will be on the morning of June 8th.This is a fun event for students to be active, enjoy games, and celebrate the end of the school year.     5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony: 5th Grade families are invited to our 5th Grade Moving Up Ceremony on Thursday, 06/09/22 at 10:00 AM. Light refreshments will be served on the breezeway following the ceremony.

    Student Chromebooks: WCPSS student chromebooks are distributed to individual students. If your child is returning to a WCPSS school for the 22-23 school year, he/she will keep the Chromebook for use next year.  If your child is not returning to a WCPSS school, you must return the school issued Chromebook and charger. 

     

    Nutcracker Performance: Are you looking for a way to cool off in this June heat? Rewatch our performance of Pieces of the Nutcracker and imagine a cold December day. Thank you to Powell parent, Drew Grimes, for capturing this incredible performance. 



    Free and Reduced Meals:  This is a reminder to apply for Free and Reduced Meals.  Meals will still be free until June 30. However, meals in 2022-23 are scheduled to be $1.50 for breakfast and $3.00 for lunch.  Those who have free and reduced lunch approval in 2021-22 will continue to receive those services for the first 30 days of the new school year. Families must reapply beginning July 1 for this program in the 2022-23 school year.  WCPSS Meals 

     

    Not returning to WCPSS Next Year?: If you know your child will not be attending a Wake County Public School for 2022-2023, Student Assignment requests that you let us know in writing along with what district and  school they will be attending.  Mrs. Bost will contact you before submitting to OoSA to verify that they are sure since they are taken out of the system.  Please email Mrs. Bost at csbost@wcpss.net with this information.

     

    Covid-19 Communication Reminder: If your child has tested positive for Covid, if you have a positive Covid Case in your household, or your child is considered a Covid exposure, please email powelles@wcpss.net and cbrower2@wcpss.net as soon as possible. All Covid test results should be emailed to powelles@wcpss.net
