Hello! My name is Leah Sargent, and I am joining the BRES team as a Cross Categorical Resource Teacher. I have the unique opportunity to collaborate and build positive relationships with teachers, parents, students, and specialists from multiple grade levels. I earned my master's degree in multicultural education and special education from Eastern University.  With over 10 years of experience at both elementary and high school level, I have also had other past roles as a therapeutic aid, Autism Support/Behavior Support Teacher, journalist, and Crisis Intervention Specialist.  I am a lifelong learner who enjoys reading, board games, beach trips, hiking, and finding waterfalls and lighthouses.

I have lived in multiple states but consider North Carolina to be home. I reside in Fuquay-Varina with my husband and four children (two boys and two girls). I look forward to a fulfilling year at BRES and appreciate being a part of such a supportive community!

Originally from Delaware, I've called North Carolina home since 1994. My husband and I have four adult sons. With both of my parents being educators, a passion for education naturally became a part of who I am. 

Hi! I’m Mrs. Shields, a CCR teacher who loves family, friends, and great food. I graduated from Campbell University, and I have been married for 5 years and have a baby girl. I truly enjoy watching my students grow and develop throughout the school year—it’s the most rewarding part of my job! My classroom is a fun, welcoming place where every child feels valued and encouraged. I’m excited to share a year full of learning, laughter, and growth with my students.
