• Mission:

Baileywick Elementary School will provide a relevant and engaging education and will grow students as collaborative, creative, effective communicators and critical thinkers.

    Vision:

Baileywick Elementary School develops each child's individual strengths through an integrated inquiry-based curriculum. We prepare children, preschool through grade 5, to be confident joyful learners who are successful academically, knowledgeable about themselves and others, and who value diversity.

    Our Beliefs:

    1. The social and emotional curriculum is as important as the academic curriculum.

    2. Every child is uniquely capable and deserves to be challenged and engaged in learning each day.

    3. We value a diverse school community that is inviting, respectful, inclusive, flexible, and supportive.

    4. How children learn is as important as what they learn.

    5. Great cognitive growth occurs through social interaction.

    6. To be successful academically and socially, children need to learn a set of social and emotional skills: cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control.

    7. Knowing the children we teach and appreciating their diversity—individually, culturally, and developmentally—is as important as knowing the content we teach.

    8. Knowing the families of the children we teach is as important as knowing the children we teach.

    9. How we, the adults at school, work together is as important as our individual competence: Lasting change begins with the adult community at our school and collaboration with the community at large.

    School Improvement Goals:

    1. By June 2018, 100% of our students will grow as collaborative, creative, communicators, and critical thinkers and will demonstrate growth in core standards as measured by multiple state, local and school assessments (PBL, common formative assessments, digital portfolios, benchmarks, rubrics, student work, EOG, EVAAS, mClass, etc.). All subgroups will meet or exceed growth targets in order to achieve an overall proficiency of 70%.

    1. Baileywick will build and sustain a collaborative culture centered on student growth.  100% of Baileywick teachers will work in Professional Learning Teams with a focus on growth for all students.
