• Rising Kindergartener Information

Welcome to Powell Center for Play and Ingenuity Magnet Elementary School. We are excited about the coming year and we know that you share our enthusiasm, and have many questions about your child’s first school experience. We are looking forward to working with your familty to help your child have a happy and productive start to school. Below are some important dates to include on your calendar:

August 28 – August 31 – Kindergarten Screening will take place this week. During this week your child will attend school for only one day. Plan for your child to stay the entire day, including lunch. Please send your child to school with a snack, a towel for rest time, and a lunch or money for lunch (currently $2.35) on their staggered entry day. Free and reduced lunch applications are usually not processed by this week for new students, so all children who wish to buy lunch will need to pay. Our day begins at 9:15am and ends at 3:45pm. Please have your child here between 8:45 and 9:10 so we can get started on time for the day. Students will dismiss the same way they will the rest of the school year, so plan to pick your child up this way. Refer to the schedule to determine which day your child will come to school that week.
