Arab American Heritage Month: During the month of April, the Arab American Foundation formally recognizes the achievements of Arab Americans through the celebration of National Arab American Heritage Month (NAAHM). Across the country, cultural institutions, school districts, municipalities, state legislatures, public servants, and non-profit organizations issue proclamations and engage in special events that celebrate our community’s rich heritage and numerous contributions to society.

First Tee and Lego League Winners: Congratulations to our students who participated in the most recent challenges, tournaments, and competitions! Both programs came out on top with numerous first place winnings, trophies, medals and banners! Thank you to the staff and families who support these students within these programs!

Supporting a Safe and Smooth Dismissal at Powell: Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe and efficient dismissal process for all students. As we work together to ensure every child gets home safely each day, we want to share a few reminders and ask for your partnership in addressing some emerging concerns:

• Supervision at Dismissal - Once dismissal begins, our top priority is the safety of every student. Recently, staff have observed a few areas where additional support from families would be helpful. For those picking up students from the walker area, please ensure that an adult is present to supervise your child(ren) at all times and that you promptly depart campus after reconnecting with them.
• Carpool Safety - We kindly ask families who pick up students in carpool to refrain from parking and allowing students to walk unsupervised to the large "PLAY" letters or other areas of the campus. This practice creates safety concerns and distracts from the efforts of staff who are working to load students into cars efficiently and safely.

Your cooperation and support are greatly appreciated. Together, we can ensure that dismissal remains a smooth and safe process for all Powell students.

Graduating Seniors: We will be hosting a Senior Walk Celebration at Powell for this year’s graduating seniors who attended Powell. Information is being shared today with those participating families. If you have not received that information, please contact Paula Bodette, Data Manager. pbodette@wcpss.net

 

PTA Spirit Night - Two Roosters: On April 30th from 2:00-9:00 pm join us at Two Roosters at 215 E. Franklin St. Come out to eat ice cream and support Powell. Please mention “Powell” when ordering so we can receive 20% back! Online orders are permitted. Please put “Powell” in the notes section. Gift cards are excluded.

 

June 6th 6:30pm Carolina Mudcats Spirit Night: Let’s cheer on the Mudcats! Tickets are $13 (+ online fees) and may be purchased here. If you would like to avoid the online fees, please give the Mudcats' office a call and be sure to mention it’s for Powell—919‑269‑2287. For each Powell ticket sold, we receive $6 back. Cheer extra loud during the Powell shoutout on the video board!
