SRES School Updates 8.29.25

Good Evening, Lion Families,

It has been a wonderful first week of school! Thank you for sending us your bright and curious children each day - we truly look forward to serving them. Special shout out to the PTA and community partners who helped welcome our students on the first day of school (see photo below). Please review the information below and let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend!

1. No School Monday
   • ​​​Monday is Labor Day, and school will be closed. 
2. Walking Students to Class
   • ​​​Thank you for taking the time to walk your children to class this week and ensure they had a good start to their day! Beginning Tuesday, please plan to drop your child off at the door. ​​​
3. Student Checkout in the Main Office
   • As a reminder, no student checkout is allowed after 2:30 PM each day due to our need to prevent disruptions to dismissal procedures. Please remember that you must show ID to check out a student if we do not recognize you.
4. Parking and Carpool Reminders
   • Please be sure not to park in the YMCA parking lot, especially the handicap space. Appropriate action will be taken for anyone who is doing this. 
   • Please make sure you are using the official carpool lane to drop off students in the morning. We are not allowed to use the YMCA parking lot for carpool traffic. Please make sure you are stopping at the stop sign during carpool as well. We want to make sure everyone is safe!
5. Counseling Services Survey - Grades 3-5 
   • Please click HERE to view information on counseling services and to complete a survey to indicate your child's counseling needs for grades 3-5. 
6. Carpool Tags
   • If you plan on picking up your child in the afternoon carpool line between 3:00-3:30 PM, and you need a carpool tag, please complete the form at THIS LINK. We will either give you the tag in the carpool line or send it home with your child. If you have multiple children, please list the information for each child on this form. 
7. SRES Family Handbook
   • ​​​Please take some time to review the detailed school policies and procedures outlined in our handbook at THIS LINK. This handbook includes important information about arrival and dismissal, including carpool. ​​
8. Bus Transportation
   • Here Comes the Bus: Please download the app HERE to be able to view where the bus is each day.

9. ​​​​​​​Purchasing School Uniforms
   • At SRES, all students will wear school uniforms Monday through Thursday. On Free Expression Friday, students may wear outfits of their choice as long as all clothing is in alignment with the WCPSS dress code.
