Gifted and Talented
The Gifted & Talented program is rooted in the belief that every student has gifts and talents to be valued and nurtured. Students explore a wide variety of subjects that develop strengths and interests.  
Unique Offerings
Fencing, Genetics, Swing Dance, Debate, Jazz Band, and Robotics are just some of our unique offerings.

  • Meet and Greet

    Returning 7th and 8th grade students are welcome to stop in on August 23 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. to pick up a copy of your schedule in the Media Center.

    Rising 6th Graders and new 7th and 8th Graders, join us for a special orientation on August 23 from 8:30 to 12:00 p.m.

  • Mock Trial Team:  Ligon's Mock Trial Team is in need of an attorney coach for the 2017-2018 school year.  The team of 6, 7 and 8th grade students meet after school once a week through November.  If you're able to lend a hand, or know of someone that may be interested, please contact Matt Misuraca at mmisuraca@wcpss.net or 919-856-7929.

  • Meet the Coaches:  Parents and students are invited to attend our "Meet the Coaches" meeting on August 23 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the gym. If you plan to try out for one of our fall teams, this is a great opportunity to meet the coach and learn more about our athletic program.

  • Athletic Eligibility Requirements 2017-2018:  NCDPI has made updates to the requirements for athletic eligibility for middle school students. Please see the attached file with updated eligibility information for the 2017-2018 school year. Please note the change in requirement for all rising 7th graders. All rising 7th graders must now meet all eligibility requirements. Prior to this change rising 7th graders did not have to meet eligibility requirements for the first semester of 7th grade. In addition, the course requirement has been updated and simplified. Students must now meet the requirement of earning passing grades in three core courses during the previous semester.
