Gifted and Talented
The Gifted & Talented program is rooted in the belief that every student has gifts and talents to be valued and nurtured. Students explore a wide variety of subjects that develop strengths and interests.  
 
Unique Offerings
Fencing, Genetics, Swing Dance, Debate, Jazz Band, and Robotics are just some of our unique offerings.

  • MSEN Application:  The North Carolina Mathematics and Science (MSEN) Pre-College Program is a year-long enrichment course designed to increase the pool of under-represented demographics in science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers.  Enrollment is now open and the application is available for students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades with at least a C+ average in mathematics and science and minimal disciplinary concerns.  The class meets daily during 8th period and participating students will be required to attend Saturday Academy classes at NCSU on January 21 & 28, and February 4, 18, & 25th of the 2017-2018 school year.  If you have students that you feel would benefit from this program, please forward this application to them and their parents.  It is due complete to Mr. White at Ligon Middle School by April 7th.

  • MSEN Fundraiser:  Ligon MSEN is holding a fundraiser in conjunction with Johnson Nursery to sell quality plants beginning March 17 and ending March 30. Pickup for these items would be on Saturday, April 1 at 9 a.m. For more information, please visit www.ligonmsenpieclub.weebly.com.

  • Athletic Eligibility Requirements 2017-2018:  NCDPI has made updates to the requirements for athletic eligibility for middle school students. Please see the attached file with updated eligibility information for the 2017-2018 school year. Please note the change in requirement for all rising 7th graders. All rising 7th graders must now meet all eligibility requirements. Prior to this change rising 7th graders did not have to meet eligibility requirements for the first semester of 7th grade. In addition, the course requirement has been updated and simplified. Students must now meet the requirement of earning passing grades in three core courses during the previous semester.

  • Quad A Wake-up and Read Program:  The Ligon Quad A students are partnering with WCPSS Wake-up and Read Program to help end illiteracy in Wake County.  We are asking students, parents and Ligon staff to donate gently used or new children's books for ages birth to second grade.  Wake-up and Read will collect the books donated weekly and will be distributed throughout WCPSS's Pre-K, Kindergarten and Elementary schools.  Quad A will have a box located by the main office and one by Student Services for book collection.  Thank you all for your support of this program.

  • Safe Routes to School: Ligon Middle Schools wants to learn your thoughts about walking and biking to school at Ligon. We repeat this survey each year to monitor change and identify areas for improvement. This survey will take about 5-10 minutes to complete. If you have more than one student at Ligon, please fill out the survey for the child with the next birthday from today's date.

  • Ligon Sports Boosters:  Joining Ligon Sports Boosters provides free entry into ALL home sporting events for the 2016-2017 year.  The normal entry cost is $5 per game so this is a HUGE money saver and a great way to support Ligon Athletics.  Please see the attached order form for additional information.
