  • Science EOG Information

We want to share a resource with you regarding the science EOG. The resource highlights the four major unifying themes (Force & Motion, Weather, Ecosystems, and Human Body Systems) that are studied in 5th grade and tested on the EOG. The resource includes links to StudyJams, which may have been viewed in class, but serve as a great resource for review - especially for concepts introduced earlier in the school year! Each StudyJams video or slideshow includes a "Test Yourself" feature which can also give students practice with answering multiple choice questions.

  • Support FRES at Harris Teeter

Parents you can help support student activities here at FRES when you shop at Harris Teeter. Through their Together in Education program we will earn money when you purchase HT brand products. Just link your VIC card to Forestville Road ES, our school code is #6061. You can visit your local Harris Teeter store and ask a cashier to link your card to our school TIE code, or you can visit www.HarrisTeeter.com and link your card online. There is no limit to how much our school can earn, so please encourage all your friends and family to support FRES by linking their VIC cards to our school also. REMEMBER you must link your card every year, so even if you've done it in the past, take a minute to re-link your card so we continue to earn cash for student activites here at FRES.

  • Global Garden Project

We are excited to announce the start of our Global Garden Project. We have been selected to receive an NC Beautiful Grant to build six raised garden beds here at Forestville Road Elementary School. Each grade level will have a garden bed in which they will plant, care for, and harvest vegetables, flowers and herbs. Our garden project will naturally tie into our Science curriculum grade levels, as students learn about growing seasons, roots, stems and leaves, the growing cycle of a plant, the study of soil and how it helps plants grow. The garden will also tie into lessons in Social Studies, Math, and Language Arts.

We hope you will support us as we build our garden beds and help our children have a hands on opportunity to learn about where the food they eat comes from. The grant we received and donations will provide materials to build and care for the gardens, but we will need lots of help with the construction of the beds. On Saturday, April 9th from 9:00 - 12:00 we will building the garden beds. We need parents, friends and families, and tools to help make this building project a success.

If you construction skills and tools, please come help us out. If you have a green thumb and have knowledge of gardening, please come help us out. If you would like to be part of a project that will benefit FRES students for years to come, please come help us out. Many hands will make our project go smoothly and quickly, so please lend us your time and talent to make this project a success.
