Rising kindergarten students on Tracks 1, 2, & 3 will attend 1 day of "Staggered-Entry" during the week of July 10-14. We will welcome Tracks 1, 2, & 3 kindergartners for their first full week beginning July 17. Track 4 Staggered Entry will be the week of July 31. Staggered Entry dates for students will be determined by track and last name. Each track will have a different last name grouping--please review the schedule carefully. Monday July 10: Track 1 (A-C), Track 2 (A-G), Track 3 (A-D). Tuesday July 11: Track 1 (D-K), Track 2 (F-L), Track 3 (E-M). Wednesday July 12: Track 1 (L-S), Track 2 (M-P), Track 3 (N-R). Thursday July 13: Track 1 (T-Z), Track 2 (R-Z), Track 3 (S-Z). Friday July 14: Meet the teacher--2 PM. For Track 4: Monday July 31 (A-H), Tuesday August 1 (I-M), Wednesday August 2 (N-R), Thursday August 3 (S-Z). Friday August 4: Meet the teacher--2 PM
Beginning Tuesday, June 27th, parents can bring the Home Base/PowerSchool Parent Portal: Application for Access form with photo-ID to gain access to Home Base/Powerschool. The system will provide you access to your student's information throughout the year, including transportation information for the 2017-18 bus stop assignments/times.
The following schedule will be used with available spots filled on a first come - first served basis. Once available vacancies have been filled, we will start a wait list in the order of request. Thursday, June 22nd: Track 1 (Please note, Track 1 Rising 4th grade after care is full) Friday June 23rd: Track 2 Monday June 26th: Track 3 Tuesday June 27th: Track 4 (Please note, Track 4 Rising 4th and 5th grade after care are full) For all dates, registration will be from 7:15-8:30 in the morning and 4:30-5:45 in the afternoon.
We welcome Tracks 1, 2 & 3 parents and students to meet their teacher for the 2017-2018 school year on Friday, July 7th for rising grades 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5. Track 2 will meet from 8:45 AM-9:30 AM. Track 3 will meet from 9:45 AM-10:30 AM. Track 1 will meet from 10:30 AM-11:15 AM. Students on Track 4 in rising Grade 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 will meet their teacher on Friday, July 28th from 2 PM-2:45 PM. Kindergarten Meet the Teacher events will be announced soon to coincide with the conclusion of staggered entry.
The School Messenger phone message system used by WCPSS is expanding to include text messaging and e-mail. We hope you will take a few moments to follow the steps to "Opt-In" to text messages when you receive a text. Or, you can simply opt-in to receive text messages by texting YES to the number 67587 now. Lastly, the expanded service calls multiple phone numbers for all associated parents/guardians. You can choose how you would like to be contacted by using the new SchoolMessenger infoCenter website or infoCenter mobile app for Android and iOS. Review the Parents Guide to infoCenter (http://bit.ly/sm-infocenter) for instructions on setting up your infoCenter account and setting your communications preferences.
Families and Community Members always have access to the latest information and reminders impacting Alston Ridge Elementary School through the Principal's Message's page. Look for the Phone Messenger Archive to view text of recent whole-school announcements that are delivered through the WCPSS Phone Messenger system. Updates will include information on upcoming events, district policies and updates, and the goings on at Alston Ridge Elementary School.
Online volunteer registration can be completed during school hours at any Wake County Public School building. All returning volunteers must re-register prior to October 31st to ensure that there is no break in eligibility. Prospective volunteers will submit to a background check prior to approval by WCPSS to volunteer.
A variety of community-based programs will begin offering fee-based afterschool programming for Alston Ridge students. Programs include the Alston Ridge Band, TGA Tennis and Golf, and Young Rembrandts Drawing Program. Information about registration is available on the program website.
The track-change request period for the 2017-2018 school year has closed. The ability of the school to honor track change requests is limited to the space available on the requested track. The track-change request period for the 2017-2018 school year was from 02/27-03/03 for students currently assigned to Tracks 1, 3 and 4. Track 2 was from 03/06-03/10. All request forms were received in-hand by 4:30 PM on the Friday of the track-change request window.
Kingergarten Registration and Orientation: Kindergarten Registration for the upcoming school year can be completed Monday-Thursday from 10 AM-2 PM in the main office.
