Single Subject Acceleration
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities.  SSA is an accelerative practice that allows students to show mastery of the content of a course without having taken the course. Please see the chart below for the SSA nomination and testing windows.  More information and the parent nomination form can be found at  Please email Mandy Hochbrueckner at if you have any questions regarding SSA.
New Families coming to Sycamore Creek Elementary for the 2016-2017 School Year - Track Assignments
Sycamore Creek is a multi-track year-round school.  When assigning students to a track, we use the information you provide us about track preference along with Wake County Schools' guidelines governing track assignments to do our best to accommodate as many families as possible.  We also want to ensure the balance of all tracks and provide the best learning environment for your children, therefore, we are not able to guarantee all first or second choice requests.  We will mail new track assignments on or about March 23rd to your address of record.   If you have any questions, please contact our data manager, Karen Prosser, at (919) 841-4336.

2016-17 DRAFT Student Assignment Proposal:
WCPSS is expecting continued growth - with as many as 3000 new students in this school year alone. The district will be opening five schools next year, including those in our attendance area: Pleasant Grove Elementary and Pine Hollow Middle School, both near Brier Creek. In order to fill these new schools, address overcrowding in existing schools, align calendars, and create transportation efficiencies, WCPSS has proposed a plan to reassign students to different schools.  For more information on the first draft of the 2016-17 Student Enrollment Proposal, including an address look-up tool and feedback forum, visit
