Principal's Weekly Message

Good afternoon, West Lake Wildcat families. Here’s an update on the exciting activities happening at WLMS during the week of April 24-28, 2017. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, May 16, at 6:30 PM. WLMS will host a dynamic speaker on Internet and Social Media Safety presented for all West Lake and Middle Creek families. This week our School Improvement Team meets Monday, April 24, 2017, at 2:45 PM and we have school tours for prospective families on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 9:30 AM.

Spring Sports:

Monday: Softball at Fuquay Varina

Wednesday: Soccer at home against Fuquay Varina

Thursday: Softball home against Holly Grove

3-to-1 Device Rollout: We are excited to announce that our devices from the WCPSS bond have arrived at WLMS! Last week we received 424 laptops. Each core classroom, the Fine Arts Department, our Media Center, and our Collaborative Space received carts with 10 devices. That means each core pod of classrooms has 40 laptops for student use each and every day! We are pleased to be offering your Wildcat student engagement through collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity by using their 21st century learning skills!

Honor Roll Celebrations for the 3rd quarter: Congratulations to our Tracks 2 and 4 students who made the honor roll for the 3rd quarter and will be participating in the breakfast this Thursday, April 27, 2017. Your child will be bringing their admission ticket home in the next few days if they have not already done so. We are asking that parents of 6th and 7th graders please send in a dozen store bought doughnuts and that 8th grade parents send in twelve small bottled waters. Your child can bring in with them the morning of their breakfast. An email for volunteers has been sent by the PTSA.

Wildcat Attire Spring SALE: Cats Corner WLMS Spirit wear is 25% off!  This is for in-stock only short and long sleeve shirts and hoodies at the school store. PE attire (shirts and shorts), gym bags, magnets and school store items are not on sale. Cats Corner is open before school Mondays and Wednesdays.

Student Assignment Strips: Parents of Track 1, 2 and 4: Your student will be coming home on Monday, May 1st with their next year's school assignment. Important school hardship transfer information and dates will be included.

3-on-3 Basketball Tournament: This event is June 9th for students at any grade level and on any track. Sign-ups end on May 5. Forms are available at school.

We know we will have a productive week as we move ALL Wildcats forward, onward, and upward to ensure success, and we will continue to show Wildcat PRIDE in all that we do!

Sincerely,

Anne Marie Adkins, Principal
