Principal's Weekly Message

Good afternoon, West Lake Wildcat families. Here’s an update on the exciting activities happening at WLMS during the week of March 27-April 1, 2017. We welcome back our Track 1 students for their last quarter of the 2016-2017 school year. On Monday, March 27, 2017, Tracks 1, 2, and 3 students will begin their fourth quarter. It is imperative for students to attend school each and every day to ensure they have learned the standards for their particular grade level to the best of their ability. Please continue to check your student’s teachers’ websites for updates, classwork and homework. SMART Block is an additional opportunity within the school day where students can have their questioned answered and spend time digging deeper into their learning. We are here to support students to learn academically, socially and emotionally and we appreciate your partnership in this process. Together we can ensure we’ve exhausted all efforts to help ALL of our students be successful in meeting the expectations and ready for the next grade level.

Spring Sports:  Here’s where you can find our teams this week!

o   Monday: 4:00 Softball home against Lufkin Road

o   Tuesday: 4:00 Track Meet home

o   Wednesday: 4:00 Boys’ Soccer at Holly Ridge

o   Thursday: 4:00 Softball at Fuquay Varina Middle

Teacher Appreciation Week March 22 – March 28 sponsored by our PTSA: Thank you to all of our families that have recognized the commitment and great work of our teachers. Everyone has truly appreciated your thoughtfulness and kindness!

Saturday School: This Saturday Tracks 1, 2, and 3 will have their third Saturday school to make up for the Inclement Weather days in January. Your student’s teachers have purposeful instruction planned for that day of school so please make every effort to ensure your student is in attendance. This day does count toward their quarterly and yearly attendance record. Saturday School follows regular arrival times and procedures. Dismissal will be at 11:10.

Rising 6th Grade Orientation Meetings: We have been so pleased to meet so many of our rising 6th graders at our last two orientations. If you know someone who has been unable to attend one of the evening events, we have one more opportunity where we will welcome our future Wildcats. We will answer questions to help ease the registration process for the 2017-2018 school year.

o   Thursday, March 30th: 6:30-8:30 at West Lake Middle School

We know we will have a productive week as we move ALL Wildcats forward, onward, and upward to ensure success, and we will continue to show Wildcat PRIDE in all that we do!

Sincerely,

Anne Marie Adkins, Principal
