Family and Community Engagement Summit is Sept. 19 and 21

Join us at Leesville Road High on Sept. 19 and 21 for two days of seminars, engaging professional learning, and keynote addresses from Jimmy Casas and Joy Kelly. With the variety of district calendars, we will ensure there are learning opportunities for both school staff and families on both days. However, Saturday’s event will cater more to family and community involvement, while Monday's focus will be more on staff professional development. Learn more.

Join us for a virtual information session on the 2027-28 enrollment proposal

We’ll share details about the 2027-28 enrollment proposal and answer your questions. The proposal includes plans for opening Morrisville High, improving feeder pattern alignment, and easing crowding in growing areas. We invite families to join one of our upcoming virtual sessions to learn more and be part of the conversation:

  • Sept. 16, 6 to 7:30 p.m. - Morrisville High and other related proposed changes. Attend virtually.
  • Sept. 17, 6 to 7:30 p.m. - North, Northwestern, and Northeastern Wake proposed changes. Attend virtually.
  • Sept. 24, 6 to 7:30 p.m. - Central, Southern, and Southwestern Wake impacts and a general overview. Attend virtually.

As a reminder, the proposal allows some students to apply to stay at their current school, without district transportation, through a stability transfer. Learn more.

New schools for growing areas

Each day, Wake County’s population continues to grow. The proposed 2026 School Bond includes $143.2 million to advance three new elementary school projects in county growth areas, including Marshburn Road Elementary, Poole Road Elementary, and Little Creek Elementary. Building new schools is a key part of our long-term strategy to provide appropriate learning environments as our community grows. Learn more on our School Bond 2026 page.

Safe Storage: “It saved my son’s life”

In recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, it is important for families to remember the importance of proper firearm storage and the impact it can have. In a special video from NC S.A.F.E. for Schools, one father recounts how having his guns securely stored prevented a tragedy. Watch now.
