Technology

Your child's safety is our top priority, whether they are in the classroom or learning online. Our dedicated team uses powerful tools to create a safe and supportive digital environment for all students.

We use a robust filtering system to protect students from inappropriate websites and content. This filter works on all school-issued devices, both at school and at home.

Here’s how we do it:

  • Different Rules for Students and Staff: We set filter levels that are appropriate for each group.
  • Constant Updates: Our filters are updated regularly to block new and emerging online threats.
  • Human Review: Our team reviews flagged websites to make sure the filters are working as intended.
  • Listening to You: We adjust filters based on feedback from families, teachers, and staff.

The internet is always changing, and no filter is perfect. When a new risk appears, we act quickly to address it.

Keeping YouTube Safe for School

YouTube can be a powerful learning tool. We use Google’s built-in safety settings to ensure content is age-appropriate for students.

  • Elementary Students: Strict filter — access limited to videos appropriate for ages 9+.
  • Middle & High School Students: Moderate filter — access to a wider range of videos appropriate for ages 13+.
  • Teachers: Can approve specific videos for lessons. Students under 18 cannot access content marked for ages 18+.

Teaching Students to be Smart and Safe Online

Filtering is just one part of online safety. We also teach students to be responsible digital citizens. At school, students learn how to:

  • Recognize safe and trustworthy websites and content.
  • Use their school devices responsibly.
  • Think critically about what they see and read online.
