SUPPORT DDMMS PERFROMING ARTS - As you know, the performing arts (as well as many other programs, such school athletics) do not receive adequate school funding for their yearly programs. The Dillard Performing Arts (Band and Orchestra) is currently selling movie ticket bundles for Regal Cinemas as a fundraiser. These movie ticket bundles can be used at a time of your choosing at any Regal Cinema. This is a great way to have a family movie night, date night, or just go to the movies and enjoy yourself. The ticket bundles are 2 movie tickets for $30. You will receive the tickets digitally.groupraise.com/oc/50489

TARDY POLICY - As shared before, our instructional day begins at 8:15am. Any student without an excused reason (late bus, doctor, etc..) will be considered late and receive a lunch detention. DRIVE time is graded, and important instructional material is reviewed or presented.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS -

TEDxYouth @ ChavisWay: youth between the ages of 10 and 19 - TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. This year’s YOUTH event will take place on April 12, 2025 at John Chavis Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC. Apply by December 2nd to showcase your Idea Worth Spreading. Talks will be filmed and edited, and videos will be hosted on the TEDx YouTube channel. All speakers will be assigned a coach to guide them through the process of crafting a talk, from script to stage. Talks can be up to 8 minutes, on any topic related to the theme of “Stories Beyond Boundaries”, which celebrates the power and promise of youth to tackle complex issues, build bridges, and redefine what it means to be a catalyst for social change (note: the theme is open to everyone’s interpretation). Performances can be up to 5 minutes and can include original music, spoken word poetry, dance, and other forms of artistic expression. Go to: https://www.tedxyouthchavisway.com/ for more information and to apply.
