Dear Dragon Families, 

 

It was WONDERFUL to see the families at our 1st in-person curriculum night since Covid! Our teachers did a great job of letting you experience what our students do. Mother Nature dampened the event a little, but don’t worry, we have more family events planned. Please take a look at all the information below. Lots going on this fall!

 

Ask your student about….

6th Grade – Ask your 6th grader about how they did on their math test. 

7th Grade – Ask your 7th grader about how they did on their science assessment.

8th Grade – Ask your 8th grader about the ELA poem activity “TV News” and “Closed too Soon”.

ALL – Ask about the Letter to myself DRIVE TIME writing activity.

SPECIAL WCPSS EVENT BEING HELD AT DDMMS - Join us at the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) Transition & Community Agency Fair for a chance to:

  • Increase awareness of local organizations that offer support and enhance the

  • quality of life for students with disabilities and their families.

  • Engage with representatives from a diverse array of agencies and explore the

  • variety of services they offer.

  • Attend informative presentations regarding guardianship options and other

  • adult services available following high school.

FUNDRAISER –We are so grateful for all the support and participation in our Next Level Program so far. Please log back into your personal donation page to ensure your student has reached their goal. Every dollar raised makes a difference in the lives of our students! If you would like to donate yourself, there is still time. NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH - September 15 – October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month! This annual observance is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, histories, traditions, diversity, and culture of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Please ask your students about what they are learning through the morning announcements here at Dillard Drive.

UPDATE FOR HEALTHFUL LIVING - Reproductive Health & Safety

The Healthful Living Department will be teaching the WCPSS mandated Reproductive Health & Safety (RHS) unit the week of October 21st - October 25th.  Parents / Legal Guardians should read through THIS document beforehand and contact your child's Healthful Living teacher with any questions.

PICTURE DAY – October 4, 2024 – Everyone will get a picture taken for PowerSchool and Yearbook.  If you would like to order pictures: There will be a flyer coming home on September 30, 2024.

2. Fill out the flyer and have student bring back flyer and give to Strawbridge Representative when getting picture taken.

 

DRESS CODE REMINDER – The WCPSS Dress Code Policy was shared with students during our Dragon Chats. POLICY HERE We are seeing a lot of students who are not abiding by the dress code, specifically with short-shorts - Students must wear clothing that covers their skin from chest to mid-thigh with opaque (non-see-through) fabric in front, back, and on the sides. Thank you.
