Principal Message March 3, 2024
This week will be celebrating School Social Worker Week! It's a time for us to recognize and appreciate the incredible contributions of our dedicated social worker, Lauri Van Oostrum-Reed and the vital role she plays at DDMMS. Daily she provides invaluable support and assistance to students, families, and staff members alike. I mean she runs the DDMMS Athletic Booster Club and she doesn’t have a kid at DDMMS! Why does she do it? Because she cares, and we are so blessed to have her. Throughout this week, I encourage you to take a moment to express your gratitude and appreciation for Ms. Van Oostrum-Reed. Whether it's a simple thank-you note, a kind gesture, or a heartfelt conversation, let's show her just how much she means to us and how grateful we are for her hard work and dedication.
ASK YOUR CHILD WHAT HAPPENED AT DDMMS THIS WEEK:
6th – Ask what they know about the parts of the flower
7th – Ask how they did on their social studies and science tests.
8th – Ask how they are feeling about moving on to 9th grade. Are they checking PowerSchools?

IMPORTANT - Regular and punctual school attendance is one of the most critical factors in a student’s academic success. Punctuality is essential to promoting a learning environment that is free of classroom interruptions. Students are expected to arrive at school between 7:45am and 8:15am. We have seen an increase of students coming late to school. Mrs. Feldman will be speaking with students who have 5 or more tardies since the beginning of semester 2 and will be calling parents. After the warning, students who continue to be tardy will receive a consequence. Thank you.
ATTENTION ALL 8th GRADE PARENTS - DDMMS Registration Information Night - March 12, 2024, at 5:30pm at DDMMS Auditorium – Lots of important information about registering for high school.

6th GRADE MATH NEEDS DONATIONS - Pi Day is coming up and the 6th grade math team needs your help to make it special for the students! What is Pi Day? Pi Day is a day celebrating the mathematical constant pi! Represented by the symbol 𝛑, pi is approximately equal to 3.14. That is why we celebrate Pi Day on 3/14!
What do we need? - If possible, we would really appreciate donations of the following items:
- Keebler Ready Crust Mini Graham Cracker Pie Crusts (1 for each student) IMPORTANT: Please do not make your own pie crusts. We cannot serve food to students if it is not pre-packaged!
- Pudding Cups (1 for each student)
- Napkins
- Forks and Spoons
We need donations by March 12th to make Pi Day possible. Thank you for your support!
