MARCH OPEN GYM –Since the beginning of the school year, Coach Hoffman has hosted Open Gym. Open Gym is a recreational time for students to come to the gym, during morning arrival, on Fridays, and play a variety of different sports such as basketball. Students are selected, via lottery, to attend. If a student is selected, they will receive a contract and they will bring it with them on the first day of Open Gym which will be on Friday, March 1st. Transportation is NOT provided, so if your child is selected and would like to attend, it is suggested that they have transportation available to come during morning arrival so they can participate. If your child is interested, please use this link to sign up: https://forms.gle/cNWwRsHX3oEUdE1V6. If you have any questions, please email Coach Hoffman at awhoffman@wcpss.net

FREE WCPSS SUMMER STEM OPPORTUNITY – WCPSS is planning their third Exploring STEM Careers Summer Camp made possible by a grant from Burroughs Wellcome. Current 7th graders are invited to attend at their base feeder high school. The camp sites include Apex Friendship High School, Athens Drive Magnet High School, Enloe Magnet High School, and Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School. The camp focuses on the design process, helping a family with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and meeting with industry professionals as students create a prototype. Students who attended the last two years seemed to really enjoy the experience. There are five total academies between the four schools and total camp capacity is 72 students. The camp is from June 17-21, 2024. Transportation/food is being provided through the grant. The registration deadline is March 28th.
