Planting Day/Library Open House Volunteer Opportunity
We are in need of volunteers to help with sprucing our grounds. Our annual spring Planting Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 23rd, from 8:30 am to noon. Please join us even for a short period of time. You will also have an opportunity to tour the library and see the renovations. We hope to see you on the 23rd.
Boosterthon
A HUGE thank you for supporting our annual fundraiser. We exceeded expectations. Students had a great time learning character traits, gathering pledges and running the laps. We appreciate our community spirit at PMES and look forward to using the money to paint more classrooms.
Cultural Arts Performances
We would like to express our gratitude to the PTA for securing artists to present to our students. This past week, students in K-2 learned about Native Americans from Senora Nora Lynch and made pottery. Senora Nora’s artwork can be seen at the Smithsonian. If you would like more information, her website is: https://aim-nc.com/senora-lynch.This was a great learning experience!
We will have Troy Kryzalka, Number Drummer, to perform for Grades 3-5 on Monday, April 4th. His website is: https://www.numberdrummer.com/ to preview his content. On Tuesday, Dave McDonald, Artist, will be here to present for Grades 3-5. Please ask your children what they learned during these presentations.
Student Device Audit
Over the next few weeks, WCPSS will be conducting an audit of student devices. Students should continue to bring their device and charger to school daily for both the audit and for educational purposes. All damages must be reported to your child's teacher at this time to ensure they can be repaired for the next school year. Further information about the Student Device Program can be found here: https://www.wcpss.net/domain/18988
General PTA Meeting
Please join us for the last General PTA meeting on April 28th. We would like to have as many parents present as possible. If you have not attended a meeting, this would be a great one to attend. We hope to see you.
Family Engagement Survey
You will receive information on Monday about completing the WCPSS Parent Engagement survey. Please take a few minutes to complete it. The data we obtain from the survey is important when PMES is making decisions and for our continuous improvement. Thank you!
Student Engagement Survey
Students in grades 3-5 will complete a survey about their thoughts on teacher relationships, relevance of school work, future aspirations, goals, and civic engagement. This survey will take place during Connect classes in mid-April. We use the information from this survey as well to make continuous improvements.
