Ms. Aman's October 24 Family Message
Posted by Kelly Aman on 10/24/2021 10:00:00 AM
School is closed for students on Wednesday, October 27 for a teacher workday.
Last Week of Quarter 1: The quarter ends on Monday, October 25. Report cards will be sent home with students on Friday, November 5.
Attendance notes: When your child is out of school, please send a note with him/her when they return to school to give to his/her 1st period teacher or email Ms. Dixon at ladixon@wcpss.net so that the absence can be coded correctly. The note should include your name, your child’s name, the date(s) of the absence, the reason for the absence and your phone number. Emailed notes must come from the parent’s email account.
Sick Students: Please check in with your student before sending them to school each day. Students who do not feel well may not come to school. We continue to have a large number of students in our care center daily, many before 8:30am.
Parents of Walkers: Please talk with your child about being a good community member and neighbor. Students who are walking should stay on sidewalks or the greenway path. They should not walk in yards or driveways of houses around our school. Please remind them not to throw trash in yards and to be mindful of their noise level as families may have sleeping or napping babies when our children are coming to or going from school.
Pumpkin Contest: West Millbrook teachers are so creative and many of them designed pumpkins for our annual contest. Help us pick the best one! Vote HERE.
Considering a magnet high school? The magnet application window is now open!
Costumes: Students may not wear costumes to school. We’ve shared this with students but are also asking parents to be aware of what your child wears to school each day. Thanks!

Message from Dan Calhoun:
This year, our WMMMS athletes and booster club are trying something different to raise funds needed to support programs. With the pandemic, as well as having no home fields due to construction, we needed to think about different ways to rebuild our income streams to ensure athletes this year and in years to come will have the necessary equipment, new uniforms and assistant coaches!
We are running a SnapRaise campaign for the month of October, and if you are inclined to donate, I would appreciate your support. Click here to donate - https://www.snap-raise.com/v2/fundraisers/153399/participants/9158116#/
From Wildcat Athletic Boosters:
First we want to start with a tremendous THANK YOU to everyone that has donated, shared their link and helped raise awareness about our WMMS Athletic Booster Club fundraising effort! We were unsure about how optimistic to be… and are excited and humbled by the contributions. This fundraiser will run for 2 more weeks and we ask you to consider this action;
- Please post the link to your student athlete donor page, or this one for West Millbrook Athletics - https://www.snap-raise.com/v2/fundraisers/west-millbrook-ms-fall-sports-2021#/ to your social media platforms. Our hope is to cast as wide a net as possible - we don’t want our core parents/community to do all of the heavy lifting! This kind of fundraising works best when many, many people can donate a tiny amount - that’s how it adds up!
Again - thank you for all you are doing to help rebuild our athletic support at West Millbrook - our student athletes today and in the future are so grateful!
A big Congratulations to our Girls Soccer team! They are now 4-0 for the season and won their last 2 games 7-0.
