Greetings Powell Families!

 

New Staff Member - We are excited to welcome a new staff member to Powell this week. Mae Orcine will be supporting 1st Grade as an Instructional Assistant. Be sure to give her a warm Powell welcome!

 

Tardy Students - Families, please remember to walk students who are tardy to the office and assist checking them in late. Students should be arriving to school in time to eat breakfast and be in their classroom by 9:15 AM. 

 

Visitors to Campus - Beginning immediately, we are requesting all visitors to Powell to please Scan QR code outside to check in at the door before ringing the bell for entry.  Once you enter your information, and state the purpose of your visit, you will be directed to enter the office to collect your visitor sticker. 

 

Jump Rope for Heart Week - Our Kids Heart Challenge is happening this week Feb 26th - Mar 1. All students will be jumping on one of those days. Students can register and raise funds on the Powell Kids Heart Challenge page. Kudos to 11 of our students who have raised $1,335.00 online. All donations need to be turned in by March 11th. Our school goal is $5,000. We can do it!

American Heart Association’s Principal’s Challenge - Please see the email sent on 2/14/24 for more information about the challenge. If 50% of our families Click Here to Register our school will earn an additional $500 in US Games gift certificates to further support physical activity and the health of our students, families, and staff. PLUS, your child's class is participating in the classroom challenge. Register online tonight and help your class win!

 

Food Drive - A food drive to benefit St. Mark's Backpack Buddy program will be held the week of March 4th. Powell has had a partnership with St. Mark's for more than ten years and we are so grateful. There will be a donation box in the school lobby starting March 4th. Please see the food items needed for backpack buddies. Your generosity is appreciated!

 

Rack Room Shoes Teacher of the Year - Rack Room Shoes has launched its annual Teacher of the Year contest. Designed to honor teachers around the nation, individuals can recognize their favorite educators by nominating teachers who encourage and nurture students' goals. Has a teacher made a positive impact in you or your child’s life? Upload a photo with a story up to 500 words about your or your child’s favorite teacher! Five winning schools will be awarded a $10,000 Technology Grant and teachers will receive a $500 Rack Room Shoes Gift Card. NOMINATE HERE now through 03/10/24. Public voting will take place 3/18/24 through 4/5/24.

 

PTA Krispy Kreme Fundraiser: Only 4 days remaining to support our PTA by purchasing a digital coupon for donuts.  For every digital dozen sold, the Powell PTA receives 50% of the proceeds. These digital dozens can be used at over 370 locations across the U.S. We’ve sold 30 of our goal of 100.  Only 70 dozen to go!    Dough us a favor and order yours here.

Kindergarten Letterland Parade: Thursday, 03/07/24 at 9:30 AM. Kindergarten students will dress as their favorite letterland character and parade through the school. Be on the lookout for a special guest leading the parade! Families are invited to attend and watch the parade. 1st - 5th graders are encouraged to dress as their favorite Book Character.

Career Day - We are excited for our students to participate in Career Day on Friday, 04/12/24. To have a successful career day, we will need lots of volunteers from many different careers. Please see the flier that came home this past week.  If you are interested in volunteering to be a speaker, please mark your calendar for the morning of 04/12/24.
