Entry Grade Magnet Students: Families with siblings entering Kindergarten MUST apply for a magnet seat at Powell. Be sure to enroll at your base school and apply for a magnet seat at Powell for the 24-25 school year.  Also, if you have a magnet student entering 6th or 9th grade, you MUST apply for a magnet seat at your pathway school.

A Visiting Artist Needs Your Help! Local artist, Leni Newell, will be visiting Powell the week of February 12-16.  She will be working with the fifth graders to create original fabric batiks.  We are in need of PARENT VOLUNTEERS to help out during the workshops.  Please sign up here, if you are willing and able to come help the kids with their creations.  We could use help from parents from any grade level, not just 5th.  Leni loves repeat volunteers, so don't hesitate to sign up for more than one slot if you are available.

We are also looking for NEWSPAPER DONATIONS for the project.  Please send newspapers to Ms. Ali between now and February 12. Thank you!

Yearbook: Yearbook recognition ads are on sale through the end of January. Recognize your student with an ad by ordering here.  Still need to order your yearbook? You can place your order here.  Have yearbook questions? Email powellptayearbook@gmail.com

Career Day - We are excited for our students to participate in Career Day on Friday, 04/12/24. To have a successful career day, we will need lots of volunteers from many different careers. If you are interested in volunteering to be a speaker, please mark your calendar for the morning of 04/12/24. Additional information and a career day speaker sign-up form will be sent in the coming weeks.

Pre-K Enrollment for 2024-2025 School Year: Do you have a child who will be 4 years old by August 31, 2024 and is a Wake County resident?  If so, consider applying for Wake Pre-K through the Universal Application. The Wake Pre-K application allows consideration for free, safe, and fun Pre-K program options.

Participating programs include NC Pre-Kindergarten (NC Pre-K), WCPSS Title I, and Telamon Head Start.  To learn more, visit the Wake Pre-K Application Center.

Enrollment into the Wake County Public School System Title I Pre-K program is based on the academic need of the child. NC Pre-K and Head Start are prioritized for families with low incomes and other related eligibility requirements. When your application is processed, your child will be considered for the program that best matches your family based on the criteria.

Does that sound like it may benefit your child? Apply today!

Have a great  week!
