We appreciate you!!
Kindergarten Page Farms Field Trip: Our Kindergarten students will be visiting Page Farms on 4/27/22 where they will be learning about strawberries and will have the opportunity to pick their own strawberries from the field.
Artist in Residency 3rd Grade - Legocies: Our third grade artist in residency scheduled for this week has been rescheduled due to a death in the family of our artist. We wish the artist, Megan Oteri, well during this difficult time.

Family Engagement Regional Meetings: Powell is excited to invite you to join our Spring 2022 Family Engagement Regional Meetings team. Regional meetings are held for small groups of staff & families to gather from each of our Title 1 schools to devote time to building community and content knowledge related to Family Engagement.
Please email our family engagement coordinator, Mrs. Cathay Mullins, at ccodispoti-mullins@wcpss.net if you're able to join us on Monday May 2nd at Crossroads 3 Room 1 from 6:00 - 7:30. Refreshments will be provided, and we would love to have you participate as a valued member of our Powell Elementary family.
Foster Care Bags: Girl Scout Troop 4858, which several Powell students are members of, needs your help! They are working on their Bronze Award project, which helps develop leadership skills while also supporting a community need. They have elected to create "Foster Care Bags" to support kids in foster care who may leave their home with very little or nothing of their own! Please consider donating the following items:
- PJs
- Socks
- Underwear
- Bath supplies (toothbrush, hair brush)
- Coloring books and crayons
- Notebooks
- Board games or card games
Donations will be accepted through May 1st, and can be placed in the collection bin in the Powell lobby. Questions? Contact Jessica Gill at jgill3@wcpss.net
Lunch Volunteers: Thank you to the parents who have volunteered this year to support lunch supervision. We continue to have a need for volunteers. If your schedule permits, please consider volunteering. You can sign up for individual shifts including specified dates and times. Sign up as a lunch volunteer here.
Covid-19 Communication Reminder: If your child has tested positive for Covid, if you have a positive Covid Case in your household, or your child is considered a Covid exposure, please email powelles@wcpss.net and cbrower2@wcpss.net as soon as possible. All Covid test results should be emailed to powelles@wcpss.net.
Covid-19 Voluntary Testing: Our Mako Medical Covid-19 Pool testing is off to a great start. Testing takes place Thursday. Parents, if you wish for your child to participate, sign up here. If your child has tested positive for Covid in the past 90 days, they will not participate in the pool testing.
Substitutes: We are frequently short of substitutes which requires Instructional Assistants to be pulled from their classes and other certified staff being pulled from their assigned tasks. Have you ever thought about substituting? Here’s the information if you’d like to help us in this area: Substitutes Needed
Have a great week!
