Hello Huskies,
This will serve as the Heritage High School Weekly Message for the next two weeks since Thanksgiving is next week. The next weekly message will be on December 2. I am extremely thankful to work in such and amazing school with a supportive community. Thank you for making Heritage High School a wonderful place. I hope everyone will take time to relax and enjoy family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday. Happy Thanksgiving!
Heritage High School will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday starting Wednesday, November 23 through Sunday, November 27.
Husky Help will begin for second quarter on Monday, November 28.
HHS students and parents: For information on post high school planning, career development, internships, leadership, pre-college programs, volunteer opportunities and more, visit the HHS Career Services website and the HHS Student Services website.
Credit by Demonstrated Mastery is an opportunity for students to earn a course credit by demonstrating knowledge and skills in that specific content area. Initial applications are accepted through December 16. Please speak with your child and review information here for more details and application instructions. Contact Ms. Weaver in Student Services should you have questions.
Junior Marshal applications are available for interested 11th grade students. Applications can be found online here and paper copies are available in Student Services. Applications are due Tuesday, November 29 at 2:30 pm to Student Services.
Carson Scholar nomination applications are due December 5 to Student Services. Ninth through eleventh grade students with strong evidence of achievement and service are encouraged to apply. This is an early scholarship opportunity. We have had previous recipients of the $1000 award and look forward to more! Students can find the application at the Counselor Corner or Student Services.
The American Legion Oratorical Contest exists to develop deeper knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution among high school students. Contest is open to all grade levels, with the opportunity to win over $20,000 in scholarship monies. More information about the program can be found here. Speeches are due on December 7 to Student Services.
Students who took the PSAT in October will be able to access their scores online on December 6. Students will be notified when scores are ready via the email address they listed on their answer sheet. More information can be found here.
All 9th grade students taking Healthful Living this semester will participate in a lesson on Human Trafficking this month. The lesson helps us to identify anyone at risk and refer them to resources. Parents wishing to opt their student out of this lesson must do so in writing to administration prior to the presentation of the lesson. Please contact your student’s assigned counselor if you have questions regarding this presentation.

Mid-Year graduate candidates and families: Missed the Mid-Year Graduation meeting on November 15? Access slides here.
Seniors who were absent for the makeup portraits on September 9 should contact Prestige Portraits and schedule a portrait session prior to December 15. Any photos taken after this date aren’t guaranteed a spot in the yearbook. Contact Prestige at (800) 343-5735.
