Hello Huskies,
The Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its Career Readiness Academy, one of only 5 in the country funded by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation! This is an extraordinary opportunity for rising juniors and seniors to learn leadership skills, gain an internship or apprenticeship with a local business, receive job training from industry experts, and learn basic financial literacy skills. The application deadline is March 29. For complete information, visit: https://wakeforestchamber.org/program/career-readiness-lab/
Students have now had more than Two weeks to enter their initial course selections in PowerSchool. The deadline is Monday morning. Students who have chosen not to complete this task will have their courses chosen for them and will not have the opportunity to make changes later. Course selections impact many things, including electives that can be scheduled and staffing needs. We invite you to partner with us by checking in with your freshman, sophomore or junior to ensure this task is accomplished by this weekend.
The largest college fair in our area is next week on Tuesday, March 19 at the Raleigh Convention Center from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public, but students should preregister at www.nacacfairs.org/ncf to avoid the long lines.
Thursday, April 4 is Sophomore/Junior Info Night. Our counseling department provides this opportunity for sophomores, juniors and their parents/guardians to capture critical information for next year and post high school planning. This will take place in the auditorium at 6:30 pm.
Deadline to order legacy bricks is 4/5/19. Order yours today to celebrate your senior and help the PTSA! https://www.heritagehighschoolptsa.com/legacybricks.html
Seniors who missed the senior fee deadline can still pay the fee via online payments or in person at the main office.
The City of Raleigh will once again hire teens 15 -18 for summer jobs. If you reside in Raleigh and your child is seeking employment for your child this summer, several options are available. Students can see their counselor for more details or stop by the Counseling Corner.
HHS PTA Spirit night on Thursday, March 21st from 5:00 -8:00 pm at Freddy's located at 11708 Retail Drive, Wake Forest. Please come support your school and your PTA!
Warm regards,
Scott Lyons, Principal
