Parent Teacher Conference Night
Please mark your calendars for our Parent/Teacher Conference Night scheduled for Thursday, November 4, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Parents can schedule appointments with their child’s teachers to discuss their child’s progress through Quarter 1. Additional details will be posted on our homepage later this week. This will be a virtual event.
End of Quarter 1
This is a reminder for all parents that Quarter 1 will close Monday, October 25.
College Application Week
The Countdown to College, sponsored by CFNC, is underway! This year, College Application Week is Oct 18th - Oct 22nd. During this week, select colleges and universities in North Carolina will waive application fees, allowing students to apply for free. If a college is not participating in College Application Week, seniors can reach out to their counselor to request an application fee waiver if the cost presents a hardship.
Next week, CFNC will host seminars on Financial Aid, FAFSA, and Residency to help students prepare for College Application Week. Learn how Financial Aid works and chat live with Financial Aid administrators. To register for a seminar, go to www.cfnc.org.
Finally, parents and students can now view the Wakefield High School Financial Aid presentation, which is posted to our website. On the WHS homepage, go to Quick Links and look under "Senior News".
Class Shirts
Class shirts are on sale online through Tuesday, October 12th. You can purchase the shirts through the online payment portal on the school website. Just go to the Students or Parents tab and click on "Online Payments". Once you have paid, you can put in the sizing information at bit.ly/shirtwhs.
Homecoming
Homecoming week will be October 12th-15th. This year's theme is Movie Mania! Be on the lookout for our spirit days on social media and on the school website. The Homecoming Game will be Friday, October 15th at 7 PM against Millbrook.
Make Up Picture Day
Make up pictures are scheduled for October 20th. Photos will be taken in the Media Center.
Any senior who missed the summer sessions will be assigned an appointment time and provided a pass for that time. Men will need to wear a white undershirt; the tux will be provided. Women will need to have a spaghetti trap tank top to wear under the provided drape. There is no sitting fee.
Underclassmen who were absent on the original picture day will be sent down during their 1st and 2nd period classes to take their photo. Virtual Academy students are invited to come to school to take their photo between 7:25 and 10:30 AM. You will need to report to the Media Center for your photo.
