Wakefield High School Parents,
We are excited to welcome your young people to Wakefield this year. While the opening of school may look a different this year, we are ready to get started with the learning. A couple of notes:
- Students will attend all 4 classes on the first day of school. Orientation activities will be embedded in the class sessions, and teachers will work to assess student needs.
- Our website has the information you need to access this First Day of School. Please visit our website and scroll down to the Opening of School Information section.
- If you child is missing a class or does not have a schedule, please email their counselor. Counselor information can be located on the website on the Student Services page.
- Students may request schedule changes by visiting the school website from August 12-August 19 and submitting a Schedule Change Request Form. Please be sure to review the criteria for requesting a schedule change.
- If you submitted a schedule change request, please know that the counselor will make contact you when a decision concerning your request has been made. All request must be submitted through the Schedule Change Request Link located in the Banner Section on the WHS Homepage. No emailed request will be honored.
- Parents, if your child is in the enrollment process or just completed enrollment at Wakefield, please be aware that they will not have class schedules on August 17. Counselors will be in contact after records are reviewed. Thank you for your patience.
Please continue to monitor the Wakefield High School homepage for important information regarding the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. Information will be posted addressing the following items:
- The Release of Student Schedules,
- Ninth Grade Parent Information,
- Daily Bell Schedule
- Orientation Activities for the First Week of School
Please ensure your child has access to their WakeID account. Teachers will send log-in information and access codes to your child’s WCPSS email address by the end of the week. You may contact Mr. Cummings, at wcummings@wcpss.net, or Mr. Douglas, at kdouglas@wcpss.net, if you child is unable to access WakeID.
We ask you review the posted “Guide to Technology for Parents and Students” in an effort to familiarize your family with how learning will occur to start the school year.
CCP
Attention Students: If you have registered for CCP Classes for the Fall Semester, please email your counselor a copy of your CCP Schedule, WCPSS Dual Enrollment Form, and WHS Early Release Form ASAP. These forms can be accessed by visiting the Student Services Page and clicking on the [Career & College Promise Tab] on the left of the page.
Mid-Year Grad Students
Please visit the Students Services Website and click on the Mid-Year Graduate Link on the left of the screen to view the Mid-Year Graduate information PowerPoint and recording that was shared at the Mid-Year Grad Meeting.
Technology Needs
Wakefield High School recently posted a Technology Needs Survey at the top of our homepage. This is a follow up to the WCPSS survey that was sent to families a couple of weeks ago. We ask those families whose child needs a devise and who did not participate in the WCPSS survey to please participate in the Wakefield version. We want all our students to have the resources to participate in online learning.
