12/3-12/7

Posted by Michael Dunton on 11/30/2018

It's hard to believe that we are already at the end of the 2nd Quarter. Where has the time gone? First, we would like to take this time to thank all of our parent chaperones on our field trip on Thursday 11/29 to the NC Museum of History. The students seemed to really enjoy this and the trip could not have been a success without your help, so once again "Thanks". We would like to wish each and every one of our 8/1 students and their families a happy, safe, and joyous holiday season and at the same time a Happy New Year to you all. Due to next week being our last week prior to break we will not be sending home a weekly update until we are back in school on Jan 2, 2019.

Here are a few announcements for the upcoming week:

ELA Essays:
Ms. Price wanted to remind students that all essays must be turned in by 8 p.m Sunday 12/2.  The students have been working on these in class all week but if they required additional time they were given this weekend. Students need to share these with Ms. Price via google by 8 p.m Sunday night.

Book Fair:
Our book fair will be taking place this week in the Media Center. Students will have an opportunity to visit the book fair on Monday during their SS classes and have an opportunity to purchase items during Smart Block on Wednesday. We are in need of volunteers to help out at the book fair. If you can assist us please click here:  https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/20f094eaca72ca20-drms/308295

Band and Chorus Concerts:
Our band and chorus students will be having their fall/winter concerts this week. Band is on Tuesday December 4th at 6:30 p.m.  Chorus concert is at 7 p.m. on Wednesday December 5th. Our students have been working hard to prepare for these concerts and we hope to see as many of you there as we can to support them.

Millbrook High School Open House:

Millbrook High School will be hosting a Magnet Open House on Wednesday Dec 5th at 6:30. For further information click here

Message from the PTA:

Wednesday, December 5, we will continue our DRMS tradition of providing teachers and staff with a goodie bag of homemade cookies. If you can make a batch of cookies and provide (at least) 3 dozen, we would appreciate it greatly. Cookies are due when the 8:15 a.m. bell rings on Wednesday, December 5, so that Santa's helpers can fill the bags and present them to the teachers! You can sign up here to help out and volunteer.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Ms. Price and Ms. Jackson the best of luck as both of them will be getting married over Track Out. We wish them the best and a lifetime of happiness.

Once again, we wish you all a joyous holiday season and Happy New Year, enjoy the break.
