WCPSS Family Survey Deadline is Today at 5pm
All families are asked to complete this anonymous survey (English or Spanish) so that we, as a school and district, can learn more about students’ and families’ experiences so far this year. Your feedback is essential as we work to improve teaching and learning for all students. The survey will close TODAY at 5pm. If you have more than one child enrolled in WCPSS, you may complete this survey separately for each child.
Week of February 1st
All students are learning remotely this week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday, February 3rd is an asynchronous day. There will be no live instruction on Wednesday.

From Our School Psychologist, Courtney Braodbent
Maintaining focus and attention during the school day can be a struggle for many students, whether learning is happening in-person at school, or through remote learning. Finding the right strategies for your student is key but knowing where to start can be overwhelming. Please view these slides for a variety of strategies that can be used at home or school to help increase attention and focus. If you have any questions, or would like to discuss your students' individual needs, please reach out so we can schedule time to talk. Cbroadbent@wcpss.net

Important: Complete a Meal Benefits Application by Feb. 26, 2021
Parents, please consider applying for meal benefits by Feb 26. For every student that turns in the free and reduced lunch application and qualifies, the school receives federal funds that benefit the student and teachers at the school. These funds provide additional teachers and staff for the school which means more services for students, especially students that are struggling in reading or math. These funds also are used for materials and supplies for students and teachers. These are valuable resources that teachers can use to improve student achievement.
Yes, meals will still be free for all students through June 2021 but we still need you to complete a meal benefits application so our school can be eligible for this extra funding next year. Information about applying for Meal Benefits for the 2020-21 school year can be found at www.wcpss.net/Page/1849 . Help our school continue to receive this funding by completing an application online at MySchoolApps.com. Paper applications can be requested by calling 919-588-3535.
Reminder: Food Distribution Sites are Open
Apex Elementary is a curbside food distribution site and is open 10:45-12:30 for food distribution. Through June 30, 2021, all children age 18 and under may receive breakfast and lunch at no cost via Curbside and Big Bus Food Truck Pop-up locations. Meals are also free to all Wake County students when they are at school for in-person instruction. Meals will not be available on holidays designated on the student’s calendar.
