Weekly Update, 5/3/2020
Dear Apex Cougar Families,
I hope this message finds you healthy and well as we enter week 7 of remote learning!
Student Personal Item Pick Up
Some of you have inquired about picking up school pictures, yearbooks, your student’s personal items, etc. I do anticipate that we will have a series of dates where items can be picked up later in the spring. It is my desire that you only have to come to school once to pick up all items, so this event will be held towards the end of the school year. In addition, I am awaiting WCPSS guidance on how we should safely organize pick ups. I will communicate details once I know them.
From Our Specialists: Mega AMPS Session (Art, Music, PE, STEM)
The specialists are hosting special AMPS virtual sessions full of fun! While all students and families are invited to join, please note that this is in no way required. Please see the Google Meet links sent via email on 5/3 to join us at the specified times on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. You may want to click it in advance to see if you need to download the app, especially if using a phone or tablet. You can also call the listed telephone number in order to listen to the audio-only on any phone.
Please follow a few simple guidelines to make sure things go smoothly when you log in
- Consider downloading the Grid View Extension for Google Meet beforehand on your Chrome browser so you can see all your friends and teachers at once!
- Mute your microphone as soon as you enter by clicking on the microphone icon at the bottom of your screen (Ctrl+D on a computer). This will make sure everyone can hear the directions without feedback or interruption.
- Make sure your camera is on if you’d like us to see you by clicking the video icon at the bottom of your screen (Ctrl+E on a computer). Please make sure to remind your student(s) that everything they do can be seen if their camera is on! :)
- Make sure your computer audio is turned on so you can hear the directions!
We can't wait to see you!
Reminder: For student safety and security, please do not post Google Meet Links on the web. Thank you!

Food Collection and Distribution
Anyone who needs food assistance should visit wcpss.net/food to find the food distribution site nearest you. If you cannot get food from one of these sites, please contact someone at your child’s school, so we can try to provide assistance. We are continuing to add new food assistance locations and options, so please check this page regularly for updates.
