JDE Weekly Parent Update 11/8/2024

Good evening, Panther Families,

Schools will be closed next Monday, November 11, in honor of the Veterans Day holiday. We are forever grateful for all of the brave men and women that have served our country.

We look forward to having our track 3 students return to school next Tuesday. Have a spectacular weekend!

Updates for this Week:

  • New! National Diabetes Month(Please wear blue on 11/14/24)--November is National Diabetes Month. The students at Jones Dairy Elementary will have an opportunity to learn more about this chronic illness this month. We are asking staff and students to come together and wear BLUE on Thursday, November 14 to support Diabetes!
  • JDE Angel Tree--We are once again sponsoring our annual JDE student Angel Tree!  We would love to have the support of our JDE families during this giving season.  If you would like to help make a student's holiday bright, please use the following sign-up link.

Please bring your labeled wrapped gifts back on or before December 6. Thank you!

  • Attention 5th Grade Families--Please see this attached letter from Dr. Mariah Walker sharing some important information about Wake Young Women's Leadership Academy. Please feel free to reach out to them anytime if you would like additional information or if you are interested in a tour.

  • Important Dates--Students will not have school on the following days:
    • Monday, November 11--All schools will be closed in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.
    • Wednesday, November 27-Friday, November 29--Thanksgiving holiday break
  • Homework Resources for Families–We have a section of “Instructional Resources” linked on our JDE website. Here you will find reading and math support. We hope to expand this section as more sites become available.
    • We know math can be particulary challenging since strategies taught in classes today are often different from how parents were taught in elementary school.  Please click this link for a site provide by WCPSS to explore more.

With pride,

Altonia Bransome, Principal
