JDE Weekly Parent Update 6/14/2024-Revised Version

Good evening,

We want to wish all of our JDE dads a Happy Father's Day on Sunday! Thanks for everything you do for your families and our school!

We also want to remind everyone that next Wednesday, June 19, all WCPSS schools will be closed in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Juneteenth marks the day that all enslaved people were made aware of their liberation. As much as it is a time to celebrate freedom, it is also a time to celebrate African American culture and traditions.

Updates for this Week:

  • New! DJ Horne Visit--One of our fabulous 5th grade JDE parents and Mrs. DuPont have coordinated a special visit on Monday morning from NC State's DJ Horne! DJ will be stopping by briefly to read his new book to the students, and to give them some inspirational words of wisdom. We are so excited for this special opportunity!

  • New! Volunteer Process for Next Year--The volunteer renewal process will be quick and simple for all volunteers who were approved for the 2023-24 school year. The renewal window will be July 1-Oct. 1, 2024. More details will be shared with families once it is released later this month.

  • Student Change of Schools for 2024-2025-- Please email our data manager, Mrs. Daeke, at ldaeke@wcpss.net or your child's current teacher if your student will not be returning to JDE for the upcoming school year. Thank you!
