JDE Weekly Parent Update 8/23/2023

 

Good evening,

The weekly announcements are below. Have a great weekend!

 

Updates for this Week:

  • New! Student Illness--If your student is not feeling well, please keep them home. You will also need to contact your child's teacher, and they can help your student make up missed work. 

  • Reminder--Fall Picture Day for All JDE Students--Our picture complany this year will be LifeTouch. All students will take individual fall photos on Wednesday, August 30. The makeup day will be Thursday, November 16. 

    • Picture day information went home with students last week.  Please email Mrs. Thompson (hthompson@wcpss.net) with any questions. 

  • Quarter 1 Interims--Students on tracks 3 and 4 will bring home their interims on Friday, September 1.

  • Please Mark Your Calendars--Book Character Parade on Friday, September 1–We are excited to announce that JDE will be hosting a school-wide Book Character Parade on Friday, September 1st! All students will be able to choose their favorite FICTIONAL book character, analyze their character, and then dress up as the character to have some FUN with literacy.

    • Mrs. DuPont has sent out Talking Points messages with more information about this awesome event.

  • 2023-2024 Volunteer Registration–To complete the process to be a Volunteer within the Wake County Public School System for the 2023-2024 school year please use the link below to create an account and complete the registration process.

  • 2023-2024 JDE Parent and Student Handbook–We are excited to share our new handbook for the 2023-2024 school year. We have provided information on a variety of helpful topics. We will update it throughout the year with additional information.

JDE PTA Updates

 

  
  • Fun Run Information--The 2023 Panther Pride Fun Run is scheduled for September 8th. 

    • Pre-K to 2nd grade will run from 9:30-10:00 AM. 

    •  

      3rd to 5th grade will run from 10:30-11:00 AM.

      Additional Details:

      --Students and classes have opportunities to earn prizes during the fundraising period that will launch August 25th and close September 15th. Details will be sent home with the students on Friday. 

       

      --Volunteers will be needed to assist with the run and prize distribution. Please be on the lookout for the sign up genius or contact the PTA. 

      --JDE PTA is still looking for corporate sponsors for the Fun Run.
