JDE Weekly Parent Update 5/6/2022

JDE Parents,
Thank you so much for all of the encouraging words, cards, and gifts you have showered upon the teachers and staff members this week.  We appreciate your kind gestures and partnership more than you know. 
Since this is Teacher Appreciation Week, I would like to showcase our 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year, Mr. Brian Clopper.  We salute Mr. Clopper for his leadership and excellence in the classroom! 
                                                 
On behalf of the staff, we would also like to wish all of our JDE moms a Happy Mother's Day! Have a nice, relaxing weekend!
             
  • Save the Date!--2022-2023 Meet and Greet-- We are excited to invite all families to an in person meet and greet event on campus on Thursday, June 30 from 4:30-6 pm. Students and parents will be able to walk to their new classroom, meet their new teacher, and drop off supplies. 
  • Supply Lists--Supply Lists for the upcoming school year will be posted on our website during the first week of June. 
  • New Teacher Assignment--Your child's new teacher will be shared with you in the end of year report card. 
  • More details will be provided to families in the weeks to come. 
  • Spring Field Day Dates-- A special thank you goes out to all of our parents that volunteered for field day this week. We appreciate the sacrifices you made to work the stations for our kids! We will be in need of parent volunteers for the final 2 upcoming field days. Teachers will be sending out the SignUp Genius links. If you are interested in helping, please make sure that you have been approved as a volunteer. 
    • Who do I contact for help? Please contact Ms. Sandra Cosby, the JDE receptionist and volunteer coordinator, at scosby@wcpss.net to check on your volunteer status. If you have field day questions please contact Mrs. Pennington at lpennington@wcpss.net. Thank you!
    • Completing the Background Check--If you need to come in to complete the background check please sign up for a time here. (Please understand that background checks are not done at the school and may take some time to complete.)
    • Field Day Dates--
      • Tracks 3 and 4:  K-2nd   June 10th        3rd- 5th   June 17th

  • Student Attire in Warmer Weather--As the temperatures outside get warmer, we are asking that parents pay close attention to what their student is wearing to school. Please make sure your child's clothing is adhering to the WCPSS Dress Code.  You can read additional information here

  • Important Reminder--MTYR Calendar Change due to Remediation/Readministration Dates--WCPSS is repurposing the last two days of the school year for students that attend MTYR schools.  These days will now offer time for a remediation/readministration opportunities on those last two days for qualifying students in grades 3-5 based on their EOG score.  These changes impact all families. 
  • Please reference the information below regarding the changes to the WCPSS MTYR calendar for the end of the school year.

Track 1

Tracks 2, 3, and 4

  • The last day of school, for students on track 1, is now Thursday, June 2 (formerly June 6).  

  • Qualified students in grades 3-5 that meet the criteria and opt-in for the remediation/readministration opportunities will come to school on Friday, June 3 and Monday, June 6. 

  • The last day of school, for students on tracks 2-4, is now Monday, June 27 (formerly June 29).  

  • Qualified students in grades 3-5 that meet the criteria and opt-in for the remediation/readministration opportunities will come to school on Tuesday, June 28 and Wednesday, June 29.

JDE PTA Updates

 

 
  • Carnival Tickets--LAST DAY to purchase Carnival Tickets is May 10! Please click here. The PTA will have retired JDE spirit wear available for purchase at the Carnival. It will be cash or check only.
  • Thank you--The PTA showered our teachers and staff this week for Teacher Appreciation! Funding for all of that love is mainly due to our fundraiser from last fall. So, thank you to all that make that a success!
  • PTA HELP NEEDED--We are still looking for help for next year, we're specifically needed help to support our Hospitality & School Spirit efforts. If you're interested in showering our teachers with love and planning events, please send an email to ptaatjde@gmail.com
