JDE Weekly Parent Update 9/3/2021

Panther Parents,

Have a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend! We look forward to seeing everyone back bright and early on Tuesday morning.

 

​​​​​​​Updates for this Week:

  • New! Progress Reports for Tracks 3 and 4-- Progress reports were sent home today.  Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Updated! --COVID-19 Updates and Precautions-
    • To minimize the spread of COVID-19, our school follows all COVID-19 health measures required by the NC Department of Health and Human Services.  Together, we can keep our students, staff, and community healthy in a safe and welcoming environment at school.
      • Please review the latest updates on safety precautions by viewing The Safe Return to School Plan.
      • Please read updated guidance on returning to school after an illness here
        • Remember, all students must stay home when sick, wear a face covering in school and should maintain as much physical distance as possible on campus. 
      • Parents are able to check the metrics at any time by going to this website
    • Important--Please notify your student’s teacher or me as soon as possible if your student is diagnosed with COVID-19, so we can work with health officials for confidential contact tracing. 
      • Parents of students that may have been exposed will be notified immediately via phone call by school officials. Parents will be asked to keep their student at home if the call is made at night or early in the morning.  Students will be sent home from school if school staff is notified during the day.
      • The Wake County Health Department will call impacted families in 2-3 days. 
      • A follow up communication will be sent to the parents of exposed students with information about returning to school.

Bus Transportation Information:

To Check Your Student's Transportation Status:

View your student’s 2021-22 Transportation status via your student’s Homebase/Powerschool account.  Sign up for an account at your student’s school.  More information on Home Base is available at www.wcpss.net/student-information.

Carpool and Walker Tags:

If you have any questions about Carpool or Walker Numbers/Tags, please email Mr. Rashleigh at wrashleigh@wcpss.net.

 

Carpool and Walker Arrival:

  • All students will be entering the building through the main entrance.  
  • Carpool students will unload between the two large orange cones and proceed to the main entrance using Lane 1 (this is the door furthest to the right under the awning).
    • Please remember to pull all the way up to the first cone, and make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle so that we can get students on campuses as efficiently as possible. 
  • Walker students will use the same door as carpool students. 

 

​​​​​​​Carpool and Walker Dismissal:

  • Please display your Tag--If you plan on picking up your son/daughter from school through carpool or as a walker, you will need a Carpool or Walker tag displayed in your vehicle at the time of dismissal.
  • Students will begin to be dismissed to their cars at 3:45 pm.  
  • At 4:05 pm students that are still waiting to be picked up through carpool will be brought to the front office and will need to be checked out from there. 
    • If you need to check your child out from the office, please bring your Carpool/Walker tag with you to the front door.  
  • Transportation Changes for the Day--As a reminder, please submit any changes in your child's transportation to your child's teacher in writing. 
    • A change in transportation via email that is made late in the school day may not be seen in time for afternoon dismissal, but we understand that in the event of an emergency it may be necessary and, in this case, please follow up by contacting the school via phone as well.
