JDE Weekly Parent Update 7/30/21

 

Panther Parents,

I would like to wish all of our track 3 students a safe and happy track out; and I would like to welcome all of our track 4 friends back to school! Have an amazing weekend!

 

Updates for this Week:

  • New! Virtual Academy Update--  All VA parents should have received a letter this morning with details for the upcoming year.
    • Please remember that we will have student material distribution on Thursday, July 29 from 8:45 am-3:45 pm.  
  • Family Needs Survey- Please complete the survey from Mrs. Johnson, our JDE Counselor, if your family is in need of essential resources. Survey link:   https://forms.gle/YvQJboFCoAr5tj346  
  • Please read--Safe Return to School Plan- To minimize the spread of COVID-19, our school follows all COVID-19 health measures required by the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Please review our Safe Return To School PlanRemember, all students must stay home when sick, wear a face covering in school and should maintain as much physical distance as possible on campus. Please notify your student’s teacher or me as soon as possible if your student is diagnosed with COVID-19, so we can work with health officials for confidential contact tracing. Together, we can keep our students, staff, and community healthy in a safe and welcoming environment at school.

 

2021-2022 Transportation Information and Updates from Mr. Saeva

​​​​​​​Bus Transportation Information:

To Check Your Student's Transportation Status:

View your student’s 2021-22 Transportation status via your student’s Homebase/Powerschool account.  Sign up for an account at your student’s school.  More information on Home Base is available at www.wcpss.net/student-information.

  • Your student’s AM and/or PM transportation codes will display “Y” (yes) or “N” (no) for the 2021-22 school year until routes are posted. Routes usually are posted about 10 days before the start of the school year.
  • If your student’s code is “Y” and your student will be using transportation next school year, no action is required.
  • If your student’s code is “N” and you would like for your student to use transportation next school year, please submit a transportation request.  To do so, go to https://www.wcpss.net/busrider.  
  • If your student is assigned to a bus but is not a bus rider, please submit the decline bus form at www.wcpss.net/declinebus so that we have the most up-to-date information.

Carpool and Walker Tags:

If you have any questions about Carpool or Walker Numbers/Tags, please email Mr. Rashleigh at wrashleigh@wcpss.net.

​​​​​​​Carpool and Walker Arrival:

This process will allow us to control the flow of students and help us maintain social distancing throughout morning arrival.  

  • All students will be entering the building through the main entrance.  
  • Carpool students will unload between the two large orange cones and proceed to the main entrance using Lane 1 (this is the door furthest to the right under the awning).
    • Please remember to pull all the way up to the first cone, and make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle so that we can get students on campuses as efficiently as possible. 
  • Walker students will use the same door as carpool students. 

Carpool and Walker Dismissal:

  • Please display your Tag--If you plan on picking up your son/daughter from school through carpool or as a walker, you will need a Carpool or Walker tag displayed in your vehicle at the time of dismissal.
  • Carpool students and walkers will be dismissed by their Carpool/Walker number from the multipurpose room.
  • Students will begin to be dismissed to their cars at 3:45 pm.  
  • At 4:05 pm students that are still waiting to be picked up through carpool will be brought to the front office and will need to be checked out from there. 
    • If you need to check your child out from the office, please bring your Carpool/Walker tag with you to the front door.  
  • Transportation Changes for the Day--As a reminder, please submit any changes in your child's transportation to your child's teacher in writing. 
    • A change in transportation via email that is made late in the school day may not be seen in time for afternoon dismissal, but we understand that in the event of an emergency it may be necessary and, in this case, please follow up by contacting the school via phone as well. 

Our goal is to provide students and their families with a friendly and efficient arrival and dismissal experience.  We truly appreciate the continued support from our parents and guardians.

JDE PTA Updates

 
  • PTA Membership Drive! The JDE PTA needs you!! During the months of July and August we're having our annual Membership Drive to encourage families to join the PTA. You are able to join online via http://www.jdepta.com/membership.html (processing fee will apply) or complete the form that was sent home with you child. If you lost it, now worries, the form is posted on our website as well http://www.jdepta.com/membership.html. Consider joining us for a small fee ($10 indiv/$15 family) as we look to support JDE teachers and staff with projects and student enrichment activities this year that will directly benefit your children! Remember, the first class that reaches 100% participation will receive a popsicle party!
