JDE Weekly Parent Update for May 28, 2021

 

Panther Parents,

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

 

Updates for this week:                 

  • New! 2020-2021 Talent Show--It's here! A special thank you goes out to Mr. Rashleigh for putting this virtual talent show video together. We also want to thank our amazing students for sharing their talents with our JDE Family. Enjoy!
  • ​​​​​​​New! A Special Message from the Kerr Family YMCA--                                                                
    • YMCA Day Camps are enrolling now for rising K – 10th grades. Days are filled with games, sports, crafts, swimming, songs and more! Campers play all day while learning character traits and meeting new friends! Register today!

  • Track Assignments for Next Year--We sent out track assignments for our students for the 2021-2022 school year.  Most of our students will return to their original track assignment before we moved to the single track this year. 
    • Track assignments will be mailed to VA students.
    • Students that are in person will be given a slip of paper with their track assignment.
    • Teacher information for the upcoming school year will go home with report cards.
    • Please e-mail Kathy Brown, our data manager, at krbrown@wcpss.net if you do not receive your child's track assignment by June 1. 
  • School Meal Updates for 2021-2022--Breakfast and lunch will be free for all students for the upcoming school year.

  •  Field Day--Our students will be participating in Field Day this year.  K-2 will have Field Day on June 17th and 3-5 will have Field Day on June 18th. 
  • WCPSS ​Change in Daily Screenings--

    • We need your help to keep our school community healthy by keeping your student home if they are not feeling well or have been diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19.  Students should not be in school if they are diagnosed with COVID-19, exposed to someone with COVID-19, instructed to quarantine, or if they are sick or experiencing any of these symptoms: 
      • 100.4° fever or higher

      • Sore throat

      • New cough

      • New shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

      • New loss of taste or smell

      • Diarrhea or vomiting

      • New severe headache

  • No Fuss Fundraiser--Don’t forget to help us with our No Fuss Fundraiser! We are working to support JDE purchase items for both virtual and in person learning including: Raz Kids Reading Program, room dividers for social distancing, and technology grants for our teachers to purchase other virtual learning apps for the students.   • Link Your Lowe's and VIC Cards--Parents it's now time to relink your Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter savings cards.  You can link your VIC card at https://www.harristeeter.com/together-in-education  and go to  https://rewards.lowesfoods.com/Account/SelectCard?mode=CartToClass to link your Lowes card.  
    • You can also send your Vic or Lowes savings card # or phone number used to set up your savings cards to tpritt76@gmail.com.  Sending these numbers will only link your cards to our school. It will not give out any information.
