JDE Weekly Update 9/25/2020

 

Panther Parents,

Thank you for your support and partnership so far this year.  We are just a few days away from our first track out. We can do this! As always, please reach out to us if you have any questions or need assistance.

Updates for this Week:

  • New! Istation Reports--Teachers will be emailing out Istation log in information on Tuesday, September 29 between 11 am and 2 pm. All parents will be able to log in and view their child's Istation Isip results. 
  • New! Update from Mrs. DuPont regarding Library Books--
    • ​​​​​​​Pickup times for books until trackout will be Monday 9/28 and Wednesday 9/30.
    • Track out pickup times will only be Wednesday 10/7 and Wednesday 10/14.
    • Normal pickup times will resume Monday October 19th and will continue to be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week starting at 1pm.  An email will be sent out letting you know when they are ready for pickup.  Please reach out to Mrs. DuPont if you are not able to pick up within this timeframe.  (kdupont@wcpss.net)
    • New holds will need to be placed by 8 am on the scheduled day of pickup.  If picking up books on Monday then holds will need to be in the system by 8 am Monday morning. If you are picking up books on Wednesday then holds will need to be in the system by 8 am Wednesday morning, and if picking up books on Friday then holds will need to be in the system by 8 am Friday morning.
    • Green bags - please return the green bags when you return the books as they will be reused.
    • Library books not picked up within three days will be returned to circulation so other students can have a chance to check them out.

  • JDE Specials--Please remind your students to log on for their specials throughout the week.  There are also activities for students to complete in each specialist's Google Classroom.  Feel free to reach out to our specialists if your child needs additional time or help with completing their assignments.  Our specialists also have office hours each day from 3-3:45 pm. 
  • Remote Learning Days--September 29 and 30 are remote learning days for students.  This means instruction on these days will be asynchronous.  Teachers will provide activities for students to complete and turn in.  There will not be any live meets on these days. 
  • Track Out--Our students will be tracked out from October 1-16, 2020. 
    • The calendar for the year is linked here .
  • Immunizations--All immunization requirements and health assessments are now due by September 30, 2020.  Students will be granted a 30-day grace period which expires on October 30, 2020. 

 

PTA News:

  • No Fuss Fundraiser--Don’t forget to help us with our No Fuss Fundraiser! We are working to support JDE purchase items for both virtual and in person learning including: Raz Kids Reading Program, room dividers for social distancing, and technology grants for our teachers to purchase other virtual learning apps for the students.   • First JDE Cookbook--How would you like to be a part of the very first Jones Dairy Elementary Cookbook? Please read here for more information. 

  • Link Your Lowe's and VIC Cards--Parents it's now time to relink your Lowes Foods and Harris Teeter savings cards.  You can link your VIC card at https://www.harristeeter.com/together-in-education  and go to  https://rewards.lowesfoods.com/Account/SelectCard?mode=CartToClass to link your Lowes card.  
    • You can also send your Vic or Lowes savings card # or phone number used to set up your savings cards to tpritt76@gmail.com.  Sending these numbers will only link your cards to our school. It will not give out any information.

  • September Newsletter--Please check out the newest JDE PTA Newsletter here.
  • Join the PTA--Please support the JDE PTA by becoming a member! The cost is $10 for an individual or $15 for a family (2 memberships). A portion goes towards national and state dues and a portion goes toward programs for students, teachers right here at JDE, and much more!
    • Every person who joins automatically becomes a member of both the North Carolina PTA and National PTA. JDE PTA members will receive special access to discounts at PTA events throughout the year.  Members are entitled to National PTA membership discounts. Thanks for all your support!
