We have had an exciting few weeks at HES.  All students had the pleasure of participating in Field Day last week. We appreciate Mr. Brodnick and all of our parent volunteers assisting with that endeavor.  This week, our Honor’s Chorus, under the direction of Ms. Bailey performed at Meymandi Hall.  These experiences help students practice the 4C’s – collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and communication, outside of the traditional classroom.

 

In addition, they assist students in demonstrating the positive trait we are focusing on this week, FAIRNESS.  Fairness is defined as not everyone getting the same but everyone getting what they need.  This might be a great dinner conversation to reinforce fairness is demonstrated in all walks of life.

 

Kindergarten Registration:

We need you!!  If you have a child that will be 5 years old by August 3, 2023 please register for kindergarten NOW!  You may begin the process by visiting our school website.   If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Mary Canny (mcanny@wcpss.net).  Please share this information with friends, families, neighbors, etc.

PTA News:

Thank you to everyone who came out to our family dance on March 3rd. The dance was a HUGE success. It was so wonderful to see so many students and families having a great time. We were able to raise over $5000 from our silent auction and raffle to go towards a new shade structure on our playground. If your student won a teacher raffle, please reach out to the teacher directly to arrange a time.

 

Our next staff goody day, "Popping in to say 'Thanks for being so Wonderful' Popcorn Bar" will be March 22nd for Tracks 3 and 4, and March 29th for Track 1. If you're interested in donating please sign up below.

Come join us for our next PTA meeting on Tuesday April 18th at 6:30pm. We will be discussing nominations for open board positions for next school year, as well as, our Fun Run in May, and other upcoming events. 

 

Mark your calendars! Our next Spirit Day will be April 11th at Jeremiah's Italian Ice.

 

Thank you to all who signed up and donated to help restock the teacher's lounge. The staff and teachers greatly appreciated it. While we promote and create sign ups about twice a year asking for donations, please know that donations to help stock the lounge are welcome at ANY TIME during the year. Just label the donation for the teacher's lounge, and we will make sure it gets put in there.
