We have celebrities among us:

Congratulations to Michelle Murphy for being voted TEACHER OF THE YEAR to represent Heritage Elementary.  Ms. Murphy creates an excellent classroom community while holding high expectations for all students.  She provides opportunities for all students to demonstrate their personal strengths while excelling in their learning. Congratulations, Ms. Murphy.

Congratulations to Gia Robalino, in Ms. Bunn’s class, for being selected as our Spotlight Student for the 2022-2023 school year.  Gia will be recognized at the WCPSS Board Meeting on November 29.  Congratulations Gia for always being an HES HERO!

Thank you, PTA Members:

Our students have had several wonderful experiences so far this school year thanks to all of the families that have joined our PTA.   Your dues have allowed students to participate in the Fall Festival free of cost, yesterday they attended the first cultural arts performance in 3 years, students are enjoying treat bags at the monthly birthday lunches and the PTA has donated 4,000.00 to our Media Center to update our collection.  Don’t you want to help these experiences continue for our HES students?  Please consider joining our PTA today using this link

Joy of Reading

The literacy committee is having the whole school participate in the Joy of Reading for the last three days before leaving for the holidays. Below you will see the dates for each track. The purpose of the Joy of reading is to build stamina for your students over the course of three days.

Wake Forest MLK Contest and Celebration:

The Wake Forest MLK Committee would like to express our gratitude for all you do for our students in the Wake Forest and Rolesville schools.  We appreciate you and your commitment to preparing our children for their future.  We would like for you to share with your students the information about our contest for creative writing, art and creative performance at your earliest convenience. This topic relates nicely to several of the EL themes.

This year marks the 28th year the Committee has presented a program to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King in our community and our schools.  The contest provides an opportunity for the students to share and showcase their talents to the community.  All entries will be judged and the winners will be recognized during the program on January 19, 2023.  The winners will also receive a monetary prize. The Committee looks forward to the student entries each year.

Students can go to the website to submit their entries in performing, writing or creative arts by the deadline Friday, January 6, 2023.

This year’s theme:  "True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice.” — Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Keynote speaker:  Julian Grace, reporter and weekend anchor, WRAL News

Please access the website for additional details and contest information for students.

PTA News:

We have two weeks left on Our Students Against Hunger food drive. We are collecting food for those in need. Each week we have a different theme.

Nov. 14-22: Keeping it Clean Week

Nov. 28-Dec. 2: Lunch Favorites

There are boxes at each entrance of our school to place donations.

Mark your calendars! Our holiday gift shop is coming up November 28th-December 2nd. HES Holiday Gift Shop enables students to purchase gifts for their family and friends by themselves, so they remain a secret until the holidays. The program is exciting for the children, because they are making their own purchases. It is also comforting to their parents who know the purchases are being made with proper assistance from parent group members and volunteers. Gifts range in price from $0.25 to $14.25, with the majority of gifts being under $6.00. You should be receiving an email from your student's room parent with a price list, as well as, the date and time your child's class will be shopping.

We are still in need of more volunteers to help the students shop. If you are interested, please sign up here:

We will be offering free gift wrapping for our teachers again this year! We'd love your help! Track 1 will be gift wrapping on December 2nd, and track 3 and 4 will be gift wrapping on December 9th. Please sign up to help with track 1 here: To help with tracks 3 and 4, sign up here:

Our next staff goody day for all tracks is December 5th. We are treating our teachers to a hot chocolate bar and lots of holiday treats. If you are able to send items in to make this goody day a success we would greatly appreciate it. Please sign up for items to bring here:

The Magic of Lights holiday display is happening at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh. If you are planning on attending this event, use code HURRICANES when you buy tickets and $1 from your purchase will be donated to HES! Here is the ticket link.
