Positivity Project:

All tracks are learning about purpose during SEL time next week.  The definition of this trait is: You have beliefs about the meaning of life and your life’s purpose. You seek to be part of something greater than yourself”.  I encourage you to have conversations about being part of a family, classroom, team, etc. and what it takes to be an effective member of each.

A huge shout out to all of our students. Our Dreambox usage is looking great.  Percentage of students at each grade level using Dreambox is as follows:

  • K – 99% of students
  • 1st – 85%
  • 2nd – 100%
  • 3rd – 98%
  • 4th – 100%
  • 5th – 100%

Students are also completing an average of 6.1 lessons per week which is meets our goal of 5-7 lessons per week.  Great job!

Today was the day we had to submit our total student enrollment to WCPSS.  Our current enrollment is 659 students which should provide us with 2 additional teachers and 1 additional IA.  Currently, our leadership is team is analyzing our numbers by grade level and track to make the best use of these positions.  More information will be forthcoming.

Summer Learning:

Regretfully, WCPSS decided earlier this week to pause the Extended Learning/Summer Learning Program effective Friday Sept. 24 due to shortage of staff at various schools.  Our program was fully staffed and we have noticed significant progress of the students that have attended our Summer Learning Program.  We will continue to provide students with the necessary supports during their regular school days.

The teachers and staff were treated to muffins for our September Staff Goody Day!  Thank you to all who chipped in and helped with this.  Stay tuned for how you can help with next month's Staff Goody Day!

Join us Friday from 5-7pm as we work together to spruce up the grounds (mainly moving rocks and spreading mulch) around our school.  We will need as much help as we can to tackle a few projects, so bring the whole family with your shovels, wheelbarrows and buckets!  After putting in the work, head on over to Dairy Depot to enjoy a sweet treat for our Spirit Night.  A percentage of proceeds from the night will come back to HES!

We have set up a HES PTA fundraising page via Sam's Club. Join Sam's Club and 33% of your membership fee will go directly back to the school! JOIN BY OCTOBER 4!

Haven't joined PTA yet?  No problem!  go to to sign up now.
