How You Can Help Your Child Be Successful:

The school year is moving right along.  Next week begins our 9th week of school already.  As the year is progressing and summer is coming to an end, I encourage all families to establish nightly routines to support your child’s academic progress.  Some things parents should be encouraging at home are:

  • Dreambox – this is an online math program that all students have access to. Students are expected to complete at least 5 lessons per week. There is some time at school but often not enough to complete at least 5 lessons.  Families can set a weekly goal and help students reach or exceed their goal.

  • Read at Home – every student should read or be read to for a least 15 minutes daily. This is so imperative for the long-term success.

  • Positivity Project – each week classes are learning about specific behavior traits that align with our HES HERO. Next week Track 1 will be learning about Purpose (You seek to be a part of something greater than yourself) and Tracks 3 and 4 will be learning about Perseverance (you complete what you start despite obstacles.  You never give up.) Please discuss these with your students – what each looks like in your daily life and what it can look like for them at school and home.
