This week all classes are focusing on demonstrating kindness. What a perfect topic for this time of year. You may hear your students talking about bucket fillers and bucket dippers. A filler is giving someone a compliment or assisting someone whereas a bucket dipper is saying an unkind word or an unkind behavior.
Next week, students will be learning about how their words and actions affect others. You can continue the conversation of bucket fillers/dippers with this topic as well. Please reinforce when you recognize your child positively impacting someone else.
Let's have some fun during the last week of school prior to the holiday break. Please check out this link for spirit week fun.
Wellness and Self-Care Sessions for Students and Families in December:
In an effort to continue to provide support to our students and families, the district is offering a new series of wellness and self-care sessions. Wellness Sessions will be held throughout December and will encourage students, families and caretakers to explore the concept of resiliency and how to utilize wellness skills to restore balance to the mind and body. The second training session focuses on Restorative Practices and Community-Building Circles and is open to all who wish to learn more about these practices.

After multiple extensions, Tuesday Dec. 1 was the state deadline for students to submit a certification of immunization and a school health assessment. The 30-day grace period will end December 30, 2020. After the 30-day grace period, a student would have to be excluded from in-person and remote learning until compliant with these legal requirements. If a new student moves into the district, they have 30 calendar days from their first date of attendance, whether attending remotely or in-person. Schools will have until February 1, 2021 to file annual immunization reports.
Student Accident Insurance is available to purchase for students each school year. Affordable yearly premiums begin at $11.00. Four plans offer optional accident coverage during school time only or 24 hour coverage. The 2020-21 coverage plans, premiums and complete details can be found on the Parent tab of WCPSS homepage under Student Accident Insurance. Questions can be directed to The Young Group at (888) 574-6288.
